2020 Family Vision Care

This is the best eye care office in Manatee County! The staff is wonderful, and Dr. Elizabeth Vawter is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. Her examinations are complete and thorough, and her demeanor is delightful. My wife and I highly recommend this practice!

We highly recommend Dr. Vawter. She is excellent and has amazing communication skills. She explains everything so that you understand what is going on with your eyesight and is very empathetic. She invests in great technology and has a very good office staff.

I have followed Dr. Vawter since I moved to FL in 2012. She is by far the best eye doctor you could ask for. She is phenomenal at her job and truly cares about her patients. The staff is very friendly and great with helping assist you with everything.

I really like the provider and feel like she is very knowledgeable. However, I did not have a great experience with the staff in general. I was referred to this office by my retina specialist because I was needing to get an updated refraction after my recent retina surgery. I had earlier this year had an eye exam and had purchased new glasses/lenses so my vision insurance would not cover an additional exam. When the office called to schedule my appointment I explained this to them and they let me know that the provider approved that I just get a refraction and pay the $35 self pay fee for it. About a month later when I came into the office for my appointment they advised me it would be $45 for my visit because that is the copay for a specialist through my medical insurance. I am a medical biller so I am familiar with medical billing and asked them why this is being billed through my medical insurance and not my vision insurance. I also asked them why I would not be just paying the $35 self pay rate for the refraction as that was all I was scheduled for. They looked into it and let me know that I was correct I would just be paying the $35 self pay rate for my refraction. I went on to have my appointment with the provider and she only did a refraction as I have been following up closely with my retina specialist after my surgery. At the end of the visit the front desk told me I would owe $65 for the visit. I once again told them I was told that I was told I would only be charged $35 for the visit. They said since I have flashes and floaters it is "more medical" and that they would be billing my medical insurance. The provider did not look into my flashes and floaters and the only discussion regarding them was when I told her I have only had them ever since my retina procedure by the MD that referred me to her. The provider at 2020 Family Vision Care actually even advised me that she could not even bill a diagnosis of Lattice Degeneration (what I had my retina procedure for) since she did not see the degeneration when looking at my eyes. Overall, I was pretty dissatisfied with my visit and I left the office as soon as possible. I would not recommend this office as I do not feel as if the staff is very honest.

After moving and having to get a new eye doctor (my old doctor was incredible!), I spent many years at horrible places, getting my prescription done horribly wrong. Then, I found Dr. Vawter and I almost cried with joy as she listened and took the time (like my old doctor did!) to really get my prescription corrected. She really wants to help her patients and it's obvious that she loves her job. I'm so so SO happy to have found her and I will continue to go back!! Thank you, Dr. Vawter and staff (they're amazing too)!

Wonderful experience. Dr. Vawter and staff are thoughtful, detailed, attentive, and kind. Everyone in the practice radiate compassion all the while employing leading diagnostic tools, and software. As a discerning patient, it's my opinion that this practice sets a very high bar for vision assessment, patient care and ethics. The best eye doc and experience I've had...ever! Dr. Elizabeth Vawter takes great care in accuracy and thoroughness while using state of the art diagnostic equipment. She explains everything completely as well as addressing all pertinent history. One of the most considerate things she does is help find the lowest cost.I'm an RN and needless to say, I was very impressed.

Wonderful experience from beginning to end!! I had an accident with my eye and Dina was very caring and kind over the phone, she was able to get me a same day appointment! The entire staff welcomed me and the doctor was outstanding! She explained every step of making sure my eye did not have damage or how to heal if it did. She was very thorough with her examination and aftercare. I spoke to Mandy for my follow up and was greeted with more of the same kindness and care. Just an overall above and beyond practice! Thank you! My husband and I will be patients for life.
