Lee Health Pediatric Ophthalmology

I would like to take the time to thank Dr. Robert Rhee and the staff that was present for my sons appointment. It was a few weeks before Thanksgiving. Dr. Rhee and his team were seeing my 18 month old son as a new patient for a lazy eye. Nothing too out of the ordinary, many children have this problem and it's easily corrected. I went in the office knowing something was wrong but it was much more than expected. My son is hyper and all over the office being crazy. I did my best to get him to behave but he was in a new place and excited. We had to wait for his eyes to dilate which took some time. No biggie for us I just felt bad for the staff having to deal with us. But everyone was so kind welcoming and understanding. After my wild child is fully dilated we got to meet the amazing Dr. Rhee. Words can't describe his kind demeanor, patience, compassion and sheer knowledge. He had my son calm listening and was able to do a thorough exam no problem! Within minutes he had a definitive diagnosis and it seemed to me as if he was caught off guard a little bit. Like he wasn't expecting it, and he was amazed it see it. I just met the man so I could have interpreted his personality wrong. But he seemed intrigued. He informed us that our son had an oil drop cataract in the posterior area of the lense causing blindnes. He needed emergency surgery. And he had to send us to Bascom Palmer for surgery. He broke the news to us so calmly and made sure we understood everything. We were very emotional. He answered every question he could medically possible. And at the end of the visit he informed us that if we feel more comfortable following up with Bascom Palmer for all his eye care needs he understands and he wishes us all the best! Well a month and a half later my baby boy had a successful surgery thanks to Dr. Rhee's diagnosis and referral. And our surgeon is more than happy to have Dr. Rhee take over care after his surgery is healed. He is more than qualified and amazing with our son. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. They do not have optical onsite to purchase or select glasses, frames etc. so if you are using sunshine I'd suggest going somewhere else because no place will bill insurance if the script was received else where.

Absolutely wonderful staff from front desk to nurses and Doctor. Dr. Rhee was amazing.
