I had an eye exam with Dr. Maria L. Casas at the LensCrafters inside Macy's at Miami International Mall and left feeling genuinely disrespected and uncomfortable.
The receptionist was warm and welcoming, and I was actually excited for this appointment. I've been wanting a new pair of glasses for a while, and this visit was meant to be a thoughtful Valentine's Day gesture from my girlfriend. Unfortunately, that excitement ended the moment the exam began.
From the start, the tone felt impatient and dismissive. When asked what was wrong with my eyes, I explained that I don't have a known issue, just that one eye seems slightly stronger than the other. Instead of guiding the exam professionally, the response felt confrontational, as if my answer was inconvenient.
During the vision test, if I hesitated or could not clearly read a line, I was spoken to sharply and told to "focus on one letter." Being questioned in a frustrated tone for not seeing clearly during an eye exam is both ironic and unprofessional. Patients come in because they cannot see clearly. That is the entire point.
The exam felt rushed, mechanical, and tense. There was no effort to make the experience comfortable, no explanation of what was being done, and no reassurance. The atmosphere felt intimidating rather than clinical. I left feeling small, embarrassed, and unwelcome.
After reading other reviews describing similar concerns about impatience, attitude, and rushed exams, it's difficult to dismiss this as a one-off experience. When multiple patients over the years describe the same behavior, that speaks for itself.
I paid out of pocket for this exam. I expect professionalism, basic courtesy, and a level of care that reflects the reputation of a brand like LensCrafters. Clinical skill is important, but bedside manner is not optional. How you treat patients matters.
I'm sharing this not out of anger, but because people deserve to know what they may experience before spending their time and money here. I hope management takes this seriously and reflects on the patient experience at this location.
Unfortunately, this experience has cost this location a customer.
My experience was great. Cristine was so awesome and patient. She helped me pick the glasses I feel are perfect for me and was super friendly and honest. Will definately come back for more!
I had the most incredible experience buying frames at this Macy's LensCrafters location! Christine was the absolute sweetest, most helpful and super patient with me as we went through the process of getting the exact frames that I wanted (that weren't even sold in the store and had to be ordered online). Her attention to detail in helping me with selecting the best style for my face shape and color using the virtual try-on and some similar styles in the store was amazing. I was so brokenhearted when I went to the other LensCrafters in the mall just beforehand and the associate told me they only sold the brand that I wanted in the Aventura location; they didn't go above and beyond the way Christine did. Because of her, I was able to get the exact ones I wanted and even a second pair as sunglasses. Thank you a million times over for being so genuine and caring, Christine; you genuinely turned my day around I can't wait to pick up my new frames!
I took my partner to LensCrafters inside Macy's at International Mall, and this was one of the most disappointing eye exam experiences we've ever had.
The doctor was extremely rushed and showed very little patience during the exam. An eye exam should never feel like a race, especially when it comes to something as important as your vision. It felt more like the goal was to move patients through quickly rather than make sure the prescription was accurate and comfortable.
What concerned me the most is that after the exam, her eyes were visibly irritated and uncomfortable, and she doesn't feel confident that the prescription is correct. No one should leave an eye appointment feeling strained, rushed, or unsure about their results.
We gave this location a chance expecting professional care, but the experience felt impersonal and focused more on volume than quality.
My honest advice: if you value a thorough exam and a doctor who takes their time, you may want to consider a smaller, independent eye doctor who prioritizes patient comfort and accuracy.
Doctor Casas is wonderful and Christine was amazing. She's so personable and outgoing. Her customer service is the best! She's one of the reasons my husband gets his glasses here. I recommend this Lens Crafters in Macy's at International Mall.
