I highly recommend Dr. Buck. I was her student for two weeks and I saw firsthand the depth of her client-centered approach. Dr. Buck's philosophy is that the foundational levels of the visual system must function effectively in order to support higher-level visual skills. Unlike many traditional optometrists who focus primarily on refractive status and ocular health, Dr. Buck evaluates vision through the visual developmental pyramid. Her intake process is thorough as she explores a client's epigenetics, birth history, and nutritional balance. From there, she evaluates the autonomic nervous system, integration of primitive reflexes, visual spatial perception, eye teaming, body alignment, posture, and the components typically addressed in a standard eye exam.

I have had issues with my eyes and nervous system since a concussion in 2019. Dr. Buck was the first medical professional to take me seriously and offer real actionable treatment and care after a PCP told me I'd be "fine" and a neurologist told me I "just had anxiety". I am still in treatment with her as pregnancy and grad school have made consistent work difficult but she gave me crutches when I needed them, and we are not working on the root cause. I'm so grateful to have met her.

I've been seeing Dr. Buck for nearly 10 years and I highly recommend her. She is super knowledgeable, caring and professional, and explains everything. If you are used to assembly-line, modern vision doctors/places and you're fine with that, she may not be for you. She takes time to really evaluate your eyes and any condition you have, not just give you a script for contacts/glasses and send you on your merry way.
