Bird Eye Institute

I'm actually pretty grateful for this crew. They found a possible issue with my eyes that took laser surgery to correct. I was able to get both eyes worked on within a few weeks of the discovery and their rooms, hallways, waiting room and bathrooms accommodate wheelchairs nicely. They also have machines and equipment set up to accommodate a wheelie buddy without needing to transfer. The only reason I gave this a 4 star is simply because every appointment takes about 2-2.5 hrs, however they do check in on the patients and so friendly that taking a book and catching up on my recent library read works out to alleviate the time it takes for appointments to be finished.

I'm appalled and disgusted by the way the staff here treats their patients. The surgery scheduler should be reevaluated as being an employee there and the managers should pay more attention to the mistakes their staff makes. It is very disturbing to know that this facility would rather jeopardize a persons health than to admit their wrong mistakes. This facility lacks the value of life and lacks common decency as well as basic social skills. The Scheduler, Christina. Should be ashamed of herself. How dare you cancel a surgery appointment just to try to clear up your mistake. You don't realize the damage you can cause by not owning up to your mistakes. You would rather have people suffer than to receive help. You should not work here or in any aspect of healthcare, period.

I had a random eye emergency that needed immediate medical attention. This place was right near my job and I walked in without an appointment. They were able to see me right away and get me taken care of. They made sure to still go through their full diagnostic tests before going straight to the issue so that they could assess my entire eye and not just what I was complaining about. Would recommend!

Mirtila Quiros My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Bird for many years and we have never had any problem with him or his staff. They have always been very kind and helpful. But today, I had an appointment and I went with my husband because it was very difficult to drive when they put the eye drops. When we arrived, I went to sign in and my husband went to sit down. TORY, a front desk clerk, told us very arrogant and impolite that my husband had to stay in his car because only patients were allowed inside the clinic. When they called me to confirm my appointment they did not mention anything about it neither they had any sign on the outside door. I told him that it was very hot in the car (waiting time is around 2 to 3 hours) and he said that he needed to turn on his car A/C and he stood up and opened the door of the clinic for my husband to get out of the office. How in the world a person who constantly deals with patients (customers) can do such a disgusting and despicable action like this. At this point, I was already very upset and I asked him if he knew who pays his salary. He replied "Dr. Bird" and I replied back "no sir, the patients pay your salary." TORY needs to treat everybody with respect and stop arguing with the patients (customers). His attitude may impact adversely the reputation of your clinic. He could have handled this situation in a totally different way and it would have not escalated.

It was my first time visiting the office and I didn't really know what to expect. I honestly had some pretty bad experiences with previous doctors and I was in need of a place that would provide to me proper care. My experience with the stuff as well as the doctors was by far the best I had. They were friendly, answered all of of my questions, and took me in quick, almost no wait time. I just ordered my new pair of glasses and I am excited to get them. Super professional.

Doctor bird came to my appointment 1hour and 43 mins late.... Didn't acknowledge me(the patient) who's also a mental health patient and decided to get in my husbands face screaming and causing a scene leading me to having a panic attack. All because my husband simply greeted him and stated that he thought Dr.Bird was at a family emergency and was thinking we should reschedule. He got up and tried to get in my husband face while my husband was sitting there confused. Doctor bird proceeded to ignore me telling him to stop it's a misunderstanding , continued telling my husband where he can go, and walked out of MY appointment. Mind you I had punctal plugs put in a month before this was my follow up and my eyes were worse. The pressure behind my left eye was 22 and full of mucus, only to wait almost 2 hours to be ignored and verbally assaulted by him. He doesn't do anything as an eye doctor his techs do everything. Honestly in my opinion he is not a great person in general. The atmosphere of the office is racist and dirty. The seats are so close and the room capacity is too small for the amount of people coming in which is unsafe. No one at the front has any kind of service skill just simply hired because they're Spanish. In fact I felt uncomfortable every time I went there being pushed off on techs instead of being serviced by the Doctor you booked and pay money to for service.

I think really hard before leaving bad review, but my experience with Dr, Brid is I cannot say enough great things about him! Thank you, Dr. Bird and best wishes on your retirement. Recently Dr. Franco took over my file, The office has cancelled on me twice at her request with very short notice (one of them I was already at the office) and not to mention I drive 50 minutes to the Bird Eye Institute in Baldwin Park. I would also like to point out 3 of the staff / employee customer services is horrendous by having no professionalism/ good choice of words and sympathy for the inconvenience they cause. I will be looking for a new Optometry closer to home.

Dr Leslie Garay took care of me today. She is an outstanding, meticulous physician who is a specialized expert in her field. She is very kind and warm, cares about you as a person, and takes her time to explain everything. The staff members are also courteous and welcoming. I'm in the medical field so I have firsthand experience from both sides. We cannot say enough great things about her & her clinic! Thank you Dr. Garay!
