I approached cataract replacement with a high degree of anxiety, but the Dr. Phillips office has been fantastic. From the very first encounter through the surgical procedure and the post-op visits everybody was warm, friendly, efficient, calm and supportive. Dr. Shumski is patient, encouraging and goes the extra mile to ensure you understand the lens replacement options and make the best selection based on your eye health and life style. And, he is so talented that after the procedures were over I realized that, under his care, anxiety was unwarranted. Alexendria, took care of the scheduling and financials and was a delight to work with. I never felt pressured to make a decision about anything and she was very thorough about explaining the process and next steps. If questions came up along the way an email received a quick response. The surgical facility is calm, quiet, and comforting. Everybody was pleasant and supportive and they were constantly explaining what they were doing and what to expect next. Nobody acted like they were in a rush and it felt more like a spa than a surgical center or medical facility. The surgery itself was very quick and pain free. Dr. Nguyen took care the pre-op and post-op evaluations and provided thorough explanations of the healing process, what to expect in the way of visual changes while healing and adjusting to new vision, and precautions to be taken for the first few days after surgery. In summary, I highly recommend this practice for cataract evaluation and surgery.

High level of service from front to back! From the first phone call, I knew the team here prided themselves on what they do. I enjoyed meeting Dr. Nguyen; she is an excellent Dr that goes above and beyond. Alexandria also helped me and was so kind and confident in what she does. Highly recommend this office and team!

I had refractive surgery 30 years ago which makes calculations for cataract lens replacements more challenging. After considering several practices I chose to be evaluated by Dr Shumski at the Dr. Phillips location. The reasons for this choice were the convenient location close to home, Dr. Shumski's state of the art approach to care including up to date technology, IV free surgery, and same day surgery for both eyes. Long story short I had surgery on both eyes and was seeing well enough to drive to the follow-up appointment the next morning. Vision 20/20 for distance and reading the smallest print on the near vision chart. The surgery was quick and painless. I honestly do not understand why an anesthesiologist is needed to provide conscious sedation for cataract surgery. The team at the Dr. Phillips office has been great. Dr. Nguyen handled the biometric measurements and based on the results did an excellent job. Alexandria, the concierge, was a gem to work with and handled all the scheduling. She was prompt and efficient with responses to any questions. Now that my cataracts have been taken care of my wife has been scheduled for her evaluation. I can't think of any better way to demonstrate my high opinion about this office than to refer a loved one.

The doctor and staff have gone above and beyond to help me see again. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Shumsky and Dr Nyguen for their professionalism and expertise. Vision correction can be frightening but I never leave an appointment with open questions and never rushed. They've helped with YAG laser as well as PRK surgery. Desk staff, technicians and surgical staff are excellent and efficient. They have a well tuned system that places patient care first. Absolutely recommend.

I had an amazing experience at Magruder Laser Vision. Dr. Shumski and all the staff were amazing. They all explained the complete process thoroughly. Everything is perfect now. My experience at Magruder was amazing! Dr. Shumski was fabulous. He took his time meeting with me to talk about the cataract procedure and made sure I understood everything. I had a question the next day and called the office, and was so impressed that he called me back himself rather than having someone else call for him . The day of my surgery he made sure I was comfortable and didn't proceed until I was ready. The other doctor I met with both before and post surgery was Dr. Wynn , and I also can't speak highly enough about her. She took her time with me, was easy to talk to, and when I had questions afterwards, she answered my emails promptly. The staff who support both of these doctors are also highly trained and personable. Last I must comment on the actual facility. It is state of the art, and every effort is made to make you feel comfortable while you are waiting for the procedure. Comfortable leather chairs like when you get a manicure, soothing music, nature scenes on a large screen TV, and even a warm blanket! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr Schumski and Magruder Laser Vision. Amazing experience. Best of all, of course, is that now I have fabulous vision! My thanks to everyone there. Joan Reines

I was going to have my cataract surgery in the Tampa area, but was not happy with the pre-surgery appointment. After doing a lot of research, I found Dr. Shumski, and was pleased that he was not only listed as one of the best cataract surgeons in Florida, but that he also had an engineering degree, and collaborates with companies making surgical and laser machinery. From the lovely women in the front office, to Alexandria Vazquez, my concierge, to Dr. Shumski, and Dr. Nguyen, all treated me with respect, and took time to answer all of my many questions. My comfort was foremost for all the them. I highly recommend Magruder Laser Vision to anyone considering eye surgery.
