St Luke's at the Villages Lake Sumter Landing

Had my cataract eye follow-up appointment cancelled three times. Today when I called in to get a new date I was informed I had to wait another 4 months to see a doctor. Really?

I made an appointment with St. Luke's five months ago to have surgery on my eyes. Today the 13th three days before my appointment they called me a couple days ago. I just called them back and they don't have a doctor anymore. That's gonna do the surgical anymore and they would refer me to someone else like 50 miles away or wait till next year 2026 so if I could give them zero stars, I would've given them zero stars.

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. I am giving the overall care 2 stars because a great van driver picked me up and brought me home, and the wait time for the surgery was not extensively long. I did not ever see Dr. Ireland again, but her support staff. After the first surgery on the left eye I saw a doctor who said everything went well. About one month later. I then moved to the second procedure on the right eye and again I presume Dr. Ireland was the surgeon. I started to have serious blurriness when I would go outside in the sunlight. I was hopeful that this would go away, but rather, it continued to get worse. Was this how it was supposed to be? I don't think so. My husband had his cataract surgery at Bascom Palmer, in Miami, the number 1 Eye Institute in the country. The care he received was far beyond anything that we could have conceived. I expected the same - why wouldn't I?? I saw another doctor yesterday at St. Luke's. Supposedly he was the closing doctor. He examined me and said that everything looked great except that I had a film on the lens? He said I would just have to wait and see if it subsided. I explained to him that I could not go in the sun or even see when I was in the sun. Sunglasses gave some but not much relief. I couldn't even stand the bright lights in his office. He said when I got glasses to adjust my vision, this would go away but if it didn't, there was another laser procedure to resolve the brightness issue!!!!!! Number 1 my close vision is good and I don't need glasses. I am near sighted and do need relief for that. When I was in his office the lights had to be turned off so that I could see because of the glare. By the way, there was a long wait in his office and the staff could have taken their kindness medicine. I guess the thing that surprised me the most was his parting words were "see you next year." In other words, this is your problem. Uh, maybe 1 star.

Had my consultation and what was stated as 2-3 hours ended up just 1.5 hours as I was just in before the rush. Every person from the desk staff and each of the technicians I interacted with wad exceptional. I then had a conversation with Dr. Ireland and she provided me with some excellent considerations to make my decision. She was professional, personable and able to provide the technical information in a succinct and understandable manner.

Great doctors. Complete disaster while waiting. Staff is lame at best , not all but most. Horrible at honoring appointment times. Very little communication about appointments. 4 people at the front desk doing very little. Looking at blank screens. I know I'm sitting here watching them . Great docs, lousy system.

Dr. Ireland was kind and pleasant to work with. She is very professional and highly skilled in her chosen field. I had cataract surgery and lens replacement in my left eye this week and I'm very pleased with the results and the care provided by Dr. Ireland and the entire staff at St. Luke's .

OMG what an exceptional eye care center is St. Luke's at the Villages Lake Sumter. My thanks to Dr. Ireland and Dr. Miranda for such outstanding care. Dr. Ireland removed my cataracts, and Dr. Miranda did my follow up care. You could not ask for a more efficient and professional team. From the time I entered the front door, all of the staff including front desk, nurses, and all the supporting staff exceeded my expectations. Thank you Dr. Ireland and staff for my amazing experience!

Last week I went to have my second cataract surgery done. As with the first, everyone at St. Luke's are professional, from the ladies at the check-in desk, the nurses and staff that take you back to prepare you, stay with you, and the one who wheels you out, or in my case walks you out. To the follow-up staff and of course the doctors who are great as well. I would highly recommend St. Luke's for your eye needs.
