The staff at America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses are very nice, and the location is big and clean. However, the wait time is way too long -- even with an appointment, I had to wait about 50 minutes for the doctor to come online and see me. Definitely not coming back again.
I had such a wonderful experience at America's Best today from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, everyone was genuinely kind, welcoming, and incredibly thorough. The staff took their time explaining everything, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. The doctor was attentive and professional, and I never felt rushed. Picking out glasses was actually fun--they went above and beyond to help me find the perfect pair that fit both my face and my style. Truly over-the-top kindness and a great experience all around. I couldn't recommend them more! Special thanks to Crissell for her style recommendations and the personal care that she provided me with helping me choose frames and letting me know I'm getting the best prices! Which is very important for someone paying out of pocket!
Crissell is amazing! She has wonderful customer service skills and a wonderful personality as well. She made me feel at home and was so willing to do a little research to resolve my previous issue. She deserves a raise. I hope that she is my representative every time. It was a quick and painless appointment. As long as Crissell is here, I will be coming to this location.
Kind staff, very helpful! Eye exam and glasses ordered in under 2 hours! Excellent service and not pushy. Great options if you don't have insurance. They accept my vision insurance, so my total visit with exam, progressive lenses with anti-glare and two clip on frames cost me $240. I'm used to spending $500+. Totally worth it!
Crissell was amazing. Personable, professional and she really listened to me and helped me choose the perfect frames. She was up front and honest about cost and insurance and I left happy instead of worrying about draining my savings account. I got 2 pair of glasses for less than one pair at a major competitor. Americas Best is my new favorite place for my eye health.
I hate to be negative, especially when the people in the store are always friendly. However, I am still waiting to be called back for my exam at 10:30, when my appointment was scheduled for 9:20. There is nobody else in the waiting room, the one person that was before me has been done and picking out his glasses for over 30 minutes. I can hear the two coworkers in the exam room talking about their career histories and how they ended up at this store. They are having this conversation while I am the only person waiting in this room. An hour after my appointment. Like I said everyone here is friendly but the way that they somehow always get behind schedule is unacceptable and disrespectful to customers who are scheduling their exams for certain times on purpose. And I'm no stranger to America's Best or the process of an eye exam. I always expect a bit of a wait. But this long of a wait time when I can see nobody else in front of me and staff is just wandering around having random conversations is unacceptable. I also want to note this was a "remote exam" so the doctor isn't in the office. No idea if that has anything to do with the wait time. I'd love to give the benefit of the doubt to the people in office that they were having to wait for the doctor to "log on" or however they do that but truthfully I find it ridiculous either way. I've been coming to America's Best for my glasses for well over 10 years but I believe this will be my last time.
Update: I was told the wait happened because the staff member that completed my pre-test failed to put my folder outside the exam room door after finishing my pre-test. Regardless of the reason, I spent over two hours in store today, with maybe 40 minutes of that being time I was actually seen/checked out.
I am giving 5 stars because almost everyone in this store is awesome. I've been going to America's Best for over 20 years I think - there was a location in Gwinnett Mall my mom used to take me. In Canton, the service was amazing over the past few years. Service today was great mostly - Doctor is great. Crissel was the rudest (only rude) America's Best employee I have ever encountered.
Her decision that I HAD to stay after my trial contacts were checked by the doctor, even though I didn't want to order contacts today, added 15 min to my appointment and 7 min of traffic to my drive. For her information - I will order my contacts in a week from America's Best after an important legal situation is over and I can wrap my head around another expense. And since another employee reminded me of price matching, I definitely will. But forcing me to stay when I owed nothing at that visit and was buying nothing was rude. She was seemingly too stressed to be nice.
(Update Mar 2026 - I followed the steps from the reply below and emailed the company. The auto reply included info about google reviews, so that told me it's not their first rodeo for complaints. A second email said the District Manager would reach out. Its been crickets ever since. My original review feelings remain unchanged.) The staff here is great! HOWEVER, my experience with the optometrist (Patrick Dicus) has been disappointing.
Everyone else is so pleasant and helpful during the pre-check before seeing the optometrist. The front desk team is also wonderful -- they always make sure I have everything I need, including my prescriptions.
During my first visit to this location in 2023, I saw a lovely female optometrist who took the time to prescribe contact lenses that worked well for my astigmatism. At my follow-up, another doctor--a kind gentleman--confirmed everything was fitting correctly. Both were professional and made me feel cared for, so I made a point to return the next year, hoping to see one of them again.
Instead, (2024) I was introduced to Patrick. From the start, his demeanor came across as arrogant. He made a comment implying that I couldn't read the bottom line on the chart because of my age, which felt unnecessary and condescending. I brushed it off, thinking maybe it was a one-time interaction and that next year there would be a rotation of doctors.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. This year (2025) Patrick once again seemed surprised that I'm in my 40s and don't need reading glasses. His comments seems smug, almost gleeful, as if to remind me how aging works. At this point, I'm closer to 50, so trust me, I've heard it before from other doctors.
When I mentioned that I have a cataract (which I've known about for a decade), he seemed almost disappointed that I'd said it first, and then made a dismissive remark about it being in last year's notes.
The final straw was his parting comment: "Expect a lot of changes next year." How does he know that? I don't need predictions or attitude--just a professional exam and my prescription, without the condescension.
3 stars because the rest of the staff is great.
