I never write reviews, but my goodness, Thomas Eye Group in Hamilton Mill has the most unprofessional doctors and assistants. I was surprised at the level of disrespect Dr. Dale Anderson showed me. He does not care about you as a patient, and he became incredibly rude and hostile when you advocate for yourself. Stay very far away.
To make a long story short, my first exam was $228.69 because they charge all of these different fees for non-dilation, contact fitting fees, etc. I don't mind paying that the first time (even though none of it is disclosed ahead of time), but they got my vision completely wrong in my right eye, and I had to call them multiple times to get it updated as I was getting headaches from having one eye wrong.
They are incredibly stingy with their trial contacts and gave me one pair to try. That one pair was too dry and uncomfortable. I called to see if I could try a different trial pair, and they were rude and reluctant. I actually had to go online and order a box of 30 contacts at full price to "try out" because my eye doctor would not help me. Think about that for a second.
So then, I go in again today, and I have never seen more disrespect from a doctor in my life. I'm talking about visibly angry with you and hostile. He walks in and rudely says "pick one" and told me he would not let me try any more contacts. He then says "you have tried three types; if those don't work with your eyes, nothing will." Are you joking? I could not believe how unprofessional he was. Your job is to assist me in attaining better vision, and you are going to be that rude and unhelpful. He also said some other things that I will not list online.
That being said, I have been to other eye doctors that assist you in the process and want you to have the most comfortable vision experience. I have actually been to an eye doctor in a third world country for a vision issue that was nicer than this doctor. Thomas Eye Group is disrespectful and spits in your face. I will never set foot in this practice again and will be reporting them to the BBB and other third-party sites.
I feel robbed of my $350 dollars given to Thomas Eye Group. My dealings with Thomas Eye Group have been incredibly painful from start to finish. After almost a month of waiting for my glasses because somehow they were LOST, the prescription is wrong. And no one could care less. I am headed back to Lens Crafters where my glasses have never been lost, the service has been great, my prescription is correct and it's NEVER cost me more then $75.
Everything relating to communication with Thomas Eye Group is a mess. Today, I called the general line first to request a change to my child's appointment. After waiting several minutes on the general line, I decided to call the Roswell office itself. Clearly, employees here ignore customer phone calls. I called the Roswell office at 5:50pm. I waited on the line for 8 minutes and then the line mysteriously hung up. I called back and then waited again and then the line hung up again. When I called back a 3rd time, the voice prompt answered and said the office was closed. What a sad standard of service from a so-called "full-service" eyewear company.
Furthermore, if you're trying to reach an ophthalmologist about a concern, good luck to you. There's no option for email messaging; video calls; any sort of virtual option if that's what you're seeking. You have to call the office/general line, have their assistant contact you, who then contacts the doctor, who then relays the doctor's message to you. Thomas Eye Group is proving to be an archaic eyecare company that fails to meet customer's needs and concerns.
Every time I have visited this practice I wait to see the provider. I liked the eye dr once I saw him but one visit I waited an hour and a half. He had started me on a particular medication so I needed to follow up with him or I would have left the practice. Spoke to the office manger and she was zero help. Returned for a follow up and the same thing. An hour and 45 min. I have no choice but to leave the practice, I can't wait that long every time I visit a dr's office.
I brought my daughter to get a sty removed from her eye today. I got there at 1pm. Waited until 3pm , they were waiting to get a pre certification which they did not need. I was told by the doctor, to not have high expectations. Can you believe that! A doctor...I had to actually stand out by the nurse station for them to do there job. I will never come here again!!! Something should be done. Multiple patients were complaining.
This is the Newman location.
The introduction of a new computer system at Thomas Eye Group is a disaster! Why would you not do testing on this system before activating it, resulting in ridiculously long waits on the phone to make appointments ... and waits that run two hours for scheduled patients. Your practice has obviously become too large to effectively manage your patient load. There are a lot of highly qualified opthomologists and opticians in Atlanta. We have other choices and I'll be exploring them for my follow up treatment!
I agree, Thomas Eye Group is terrible!! I called the office 5 times and each time I waited 18 plus minutes!! They kept me and my husband on hold every time we called since 2:14pm. We kept calling and finally made the last call at 4:33 knowing they close at 5:00pm no one answered the phone. I need a new prescription, I'm switching to another Eye Doctor as soon as possible!! Horrible service, Thomas Eye Group should be ASHAMED of their services.
Dr. Newman is great, but everyone else at the Roswell office is seriously challenged in the service area. This issue has been going on for a long time at this location. Maybe, if you paid better or screened your new hires better you might end up with some higher level of service. I have two appointments this month one on the 16th and one on the 23rd. I received a nice e-mail to remind me of the later one on the 23rd. That begs the question as to the status of the appointment on the 16th. Knowing that if it can be screwed, up it will be, with this team of less than the best, thus I tried to call. After 7 tries and being placed on hold for over 6 minutes, I gave up. I then tried the corporate office only to get the same level of "no service". This is the worst run doctors office ever. Who ever is in charge need to fire the staff of be fired themselves. My next call is to Clark Howard and on and on. I'm tire of your attitude and treatment of me.
