My wife and I were new clients of Thomas Eye Group. I called for an appointment and their staff was very understanding and flexible in getting us an appointment by the end of the year. They helped us negotiate the maze of benefits they were part of our insurance plan. By the time we arrived for the appointment and signed in, we fully understood the services that would be provided and exactly what our financial responsibility would be. The technician that did our Imaging was very friendly and competent. Dale Anderson was our optometrist and also did an excellent job doing our eye exams and explaining the results to both of us. Overall, the excellent staff is the number one reason to use Thomas Eye Group for the quality care of your eyes.
Our experience at Thomas Eye Group in Hamilton Mill has been mixed. The front desk staff member we've interacted with is wonderful--kind, welcoming, and helpful. Dr. Anderson is truly amazing and is the main reason we have continued coming back. He is patient, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain things, which is especially important to us as we are new to the vision world. Until our seven-year-old son needed glasses, no one in our family had ever needed vision care, so we are always eager to learn and ask questions.
Unfortunately, our experience with the optician, Steven, has been very disappointing. He is extremely rude and assumes you already know how everything works. Even when questions are asked, he does not explain things clearly and comes across as very unpleasant. This was our second visit, and while we initially gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he may have just been having a bad day, it's clear now that this is simply his demeanor.
It's truly a shame because this office is not convenient to our home or our children's school, and Dr. Anderson's excellent care is what has kept us coming back. However, the negative experience with the optician is now making us seriously consider finding a new optometrist, which is disappointing given how much we like the doctor
My first experience was pleasant! The staff was friendly, and I did not feel rushed during my exam. The eyeglass selection was very nice. I forward future appointments.
I was greeted immediately even though there were customers at the desk. Check in was smooth and was seen in about 10 mins. We had a very engaging discussion with Dr Hill about my daughter's condition and received a referral to a pediatric specialist. No complaints here, i had a great visit.
Staff was extremely friendly and professional. I knew exactly what my insulated and what I could expect. Dr Alicea Hill was amazing and very supportive.
To start, I walked into this establishment about 30 minutes before closing and politely asked for help with my PD measurement since I needed it to order glasses online. The man at the front was extremely rude and dismissive, telling me, 'It gives you step-by-step instructions online,' and then went back to what he was doing. It wasn't until I said I would just purchase a pair of glasses so I could be measured that he suddenly mentioned the woman sitting there could help me. The whole interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary.
Just a heads up -- I realized after buying my glasses that I was overcharged. I ended up spending over $300 on Ray-Bans that are significantly cheaper online, frames and lenses included. I'm not sure why the markup is so high here, but if I were you, I'd get your measurements and order the pair you like online. You'll likely save at least $100. I also felt pressured to get antiglare and polycarbonate lenses which I feel like I've always said no to in the past because I only wear my glasses at night in the car which I rarely even drive at night. Either way, I will never get another pair of glasses from this location now that I know that it's significantly cheaper to just order them yourself online.
Overall, the entire experience put a very bad taste in my mouth so I will never buy glasses from here again. This is the first bad experience I've ever had my entire life wearing glasses.
Everything about my appointment went well. From calling to see if a location could schedule me last minute, to when I arrived early & was seen right away; Dr Hill answered all my questions & reassured me my eyesight was good. Gen who processed my claim & the lady that took my co-pay were very professional and kind. Highly recommend.
I can't say enough great things about this location!! From the moment we entered the door.. front staff, back staff, and the optometrist were incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable! This was our first visit at Thomas Eye Group and I'll be recommending them to our family and friends!! Thank you for all you do!!
