I had cataract surgery in late 2024 and it was a great experience. I now need the other eye done and find out the owners of Intermountain Eye have decided to turn their backs on active duty and retired members of the armed forces; it seems using Tricare is too inconvenient, or lower profit margins, for them. Sad.

I took my mom to see Dr.Hicks. His staff is kind and compassionate. Dr. Hicks was knowledgeable regarding her health issues and how they affect her eyesight. I would highly recommend this eye center.

Routine eye exam took over an hour and a half. Twenty minutes late to pulling me back there, they let me wait for over half an hour to dilate my eyes. After an hour and ten minutes after my appointment started I still hadn't seen the doctor. I had a meeting I needed to get to and flagged someone down to get the doctors attention. He was pretty rude about it as a final cherry on top. Overall the rest of the staff were very friendly and kind, but would still recommend to find a different clinic.

I called weeks in advance to make sure they take Tri care (military insurance) and was told that they did. When I showed up at 9am the morning of my appointment I was told that because we are "active duty" they will not take my insurance. Why did I waste my time coming over here? Why was this not specified when I called ahead? Why was the gal in line next to me WHO ALSO HAD TRI CARE, I may add, able to use her insurance?

I was there over 2.5 hours and saw a doctor, Dr. Hicks, for less then 5 minutes. He said several things that he never followed up on with me regarding dry eye and contacts. Once he came in and left, I never saw him again. Now I have to wait over a month for them to re-fit contacts they never fit. My advice to anyone looking at this review is to find another provider.

IEC isn't cheap but they do good work. I've been pleased with my checkups and prescriptions for several years. Yesterday I broke my glasses AND my backup glasses. Their optical shop repaired both pairs while I waited (about 20 minutes) without charge. I can see again and really appreciate the good service.

Dr Hicks saw me and was suppose to prescribe a medicine that day. Never happened and after 3 calls over two days still no prescription ordered to pharmacy. Office is run down and dirty. They obviously don't care about their patients or service. Been a patient with Intermountain Eye for 40 years but will now be changing.
