I used to think Alameda Vision was one of the better eye-care providers in Pocatello, but that's NOT the case.
When they tell you your glasses (frames) are under warranty, then you need replacements, they tell you the frames have been discontinued. Do they provide a different frame to take care of you as a customer? No, because they say your prescription is out-of-date. When you offer to come in to get a new prescription to help this particular warranty process work, they say probably not, since warranty expires next month.
It shouldn't matter if warranty expires in 1 day or 1 year... warranty is warranty!
Also, in the past, I've asked for an itemized receipt for frames/lenses, so that my employer could easily see they were "safety-glasses" so, my employer could re-imburse me. They couldn't provide this. Every document they provided me didn't have enough information on it. When I repeatedly asked for clear documents, the manager got all uptight and snippy.
I'll find a different eye-care provider.
First visit and am very pleased for the most part. Dr. Tucker was great and I felt he listened to my questions and concerns-and had some of his own. Marjorie, who helped me pick out frames and figure out lenses is priceless-she made me feel like she was helping me and not just marking time until the next patient/client came through.
Now we just need to familiarize the techs to say things like "Hello" and "My name is __, how are you today?" before they start telling you where to sit and which eye to cover. Wouldn't hurt if they got in the habit of saying "please" and "thank you" as well. I get being on the "tech" side, but you can still be friendly while being efficient.
My glasses were sent back to the lab three times, I still can't see out of them. I'm out of money and have glasses that I can't wear.
Although the optometrist was okay, the receptionist that did my lens adjustments was always rude. Everytime I come to pick my glasses up, I told her that I still couldn't see and she would get angry. So, I'm still wearing my old pair of glasses.
My entire family has been coming to Alameda Vision Center for about 9 years. Our original eye doctor retired and we now see Dr. Tucker. He is amazing with our kids ages 13 through 7 and remembers all our names. We have loved the selection of glasses including price range. At times we have to wait a little bit to get into our appointment but the waiting room is quiet and the staff are friendly so I don't see it as too much of an inconvenience. Highly recommend them.
My husband had an eye emergency on a Friday evening 15 minutes before they were closing. The staff stayed open to take care of him. He left there with his mind at ease knowing that if he were to have any problems throughout the night, he could contact them. His follow up visit the next morning was just as phenomenal as his first contact with them. They all did a great job. My husband is never an ideal patient but he truly felt he received the best care from the entire staff at Alameda Vision.
I tend to be pretty squeamish when it comes to eye stuff but my wife finally pushed me to make an appointment at Alameda Vision Center. The front desk staff was friendly, the check-in process was smooth, and the wait time was just right. My preschooler enjoyed playing in the kid's area and it took several minutes to pull him away from the large salt water fish tank when it was time to leave. Dr. Tucker was very friendly, personable, and professional. He was very clear in explaining the procedures and my options to correct my vision; easily one of the most enjoyable interactions I've had with a doctor (of any specialty). Brent in the optical department was helpful in finding a set of frames that I liked and which complimented my head shape.
Overall it was a great experience. I went into it dreading the visit (again, I don't even like water in my eyes in the shower...), but I left very pleased with my appointment. I'll definitely be back, and I can understand why many of my family members continue to visit Alameda.
I love it!!Alameda Vision center is a wonderful place. The staff is friendly and courteous. They are very professional. They hand all of my vision needs in a respectful and friendly manner. They were very knowledgeable of my insurance and we're able to help me quickly and accurately. It was a very pleasant visit, and I will definitely use them for future vision needs. I was also impressed about the large selection of glasses that they carry.
I'm delighted to give Alameda Vision Centers 5 STARS, primarily due to the phenomenal care provided by Michael Tucker, an outstanding O.D. who demonstrated remarkable expertise in identifying a critical issue in the vitreous sack between my cornea and retina and referred me to a skilled retina surgeon, who successfully removed the sack and restored my vision, earning my deepest gratitude for Dr. Tucker's exceptional care and appreciation for the professionalism and courtesy of his staff.
