Idaho Eye and Laser Center - Pocatello

I am extremely disappointed with my experience regarding my child's care. Before scheduling, my daughter's eye doctor specifically called to confirm that this facility performs this procedure on children. We were told yes. Based on that confirmation, we attended a consultation appointment to discuss details and then scheduled the actual procedure. At the consultation, the surgeon stated he wanted to prioritize her BECAUSE OF her age and medical history. A few days later we received a follow up call confirming the appointment details. One week before the procedure, they called to cancel the appointment with no explanation other than "they actually don't see children." This has caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and emotional preparation for a child who should never have been put in this position if the facility could not appropriately accommodate pediatric patients. Medical offices must be accurate and responsible when confirming what services they can provide, especially when it involves children and sensitive procedures. This experience showed a serious lack of coordination and communication. I hope this feedback encourages the office to improve their screening and scheduling process so other families do not go through the same frustration.

IELC has the best staff and surgeons. I had needed to wear corrective lenses since 1st grade and didn't think there would ever be a time when I wouldn't be wearing glasses. From the moment I entered the facility until the time I left I was met with kind, caring, and professional caregivers who explained everything I needed to know about my new vision experience. Their follow-up care made me grateful that I chose Idaho Eye and Laser Center in Pocatello for my eye surgeries.

Dr. Emfield was amazing. Practices with the highest standards of care and integrity. He is very good at his job and you can tell he really cares about his patients! Would give more than 5 stars if possible.

Everyone was so nice. The procedure was so easy, much better than I thought it would be.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well my cataract surgeries went. The team of doctors and nurses took great care of me. I was in and out of surgery and home before I knew it. All the worrying I did about having my cataract surgeries was totally in vain

I had cataract surgery at this office about 10 years ago. I had noticed my vision was degenerating in one of my eyes about a year ago. So I came back to this office to see what was going on. I had a wonderful experience 10 years ago, but this time I had an absolutely horrible experience. Dr. Emfield questioned why I had cataract surgery so young and also asked multiple times if I had any other laser surgery. I thought it interesting that as a Dr of optometry he was questioning ME why and then kept asking me if I was sure I hadn't had any other laser surgery because my eye retina looked like someone had poked holes in it. I'm 52 and pretty sure I can remember if I've had any other laser eye surgery. And wouldn't he as a Dr optometry may have an explanation of why a 41 year would had have cataracts so young?! He's the Dr! And then when I went in for my follow up the front desk and assistants had a completely wrong case for a follow up. I'm self pay so I paid at time of service. I just got an additional bill in the mail. I called the office and asked for a write off since it was my understanding I paid for everything in full before I walked out of their office. In essence this office has a massive communication and patient care team problem from the Dr to the front desk and financial department, it was all horrible. I'd love to give no stars, but of course that is not an option. I'm taking my follow up care to my local office in my small town, and will never return to this office. I don't recommend Idaho Eye Care to anyone seeking eye care, there are better, more caring Dr's and offices out there in the area.
