Had a strained eye that gave me double vision for 2 weeks before I booked and went to Walmart for an eye exam. I was told everything looks good with my eyes, I asked if the double vision will go away and was told no it's not going away and I will have to wear glasses. I asked if she was sure and she said it's been 2 weeks so it's just a part of aging. Well a few days after my exam the double vision went away...my eye finally healed. I called back a few days ago, less than 30 days from the original eye exam to request an updated eye exam since I no longer have double vision but was told I have to pay for that. I thought they have a 90 day guarantee to change prescriptions? It's a danger to tell someone their double vision won't go away.... I see online double vision can last up to a few months for more severe cases. If she didn't know what was going on she should have advised me to see a specialist and they should honor their policy of a second updated eye exam if that's truly their policy. I'm in my 50s totally healthy and don't take any medications... Had headaches after the strain which should be a sign in my opinion that it wasn't totally healed and more rest and healing was on the way. Thankfully my eyesight is back to normal but I have to wait a whole year for another eye exam to be covered by my insurance to get another prescription.
I had extremely well experience with Jennifer. She explained all my benefits in detail and easier manner so I can understand it well. She went above and beyond to make sure I get my glasses with best price and they fit well. She explained what other benefits and discounts I can get if I order second pair. Greatly appreciated her service. Keep up the great work. Thank you !
Jen took amazing care of me, told me all the available deals, quickly ordered my contacts, and super friendly. My appointment was quick and efficient. Definitely coming back.
Rose, the manager, and staff were extremely friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I went to two different eye centers before I was recommended Walmart Optical in Addison and I was not disappointed at all. I am new to the optical world and Rose took the time to explain everything. This is now my optical center for good and I couldn't be happier with the customer service. Thank you!!
It's the worst place to get your glasses made. Bad service, I ordered progressive lenses with anti-reflective, I didn't pay the guarantee, I didn't have more money, what could go wrong if I'm careful with my lenses, because just after spending two months and not having the guarantee, the anti-reflective that they used on my lenses was damaged. damage, everything started to scratch. They do not respond because it is not in their policy to assume after the warranty expires and that is fine but getting damaged just after three months is for me the worst, there is no quality in those glasses that charged $110 each and $100 for the frame apart. , I threw $300 in the trash because of these people, and their manager was also not kind at any time.
Horrible customer service from the lady at the front desk. She should not be employed if she can't provide pleasant customer service. This is my third encounter with this woman who has been nothing but rude from the moment we walked in. I opted to go anywhere else for my children's glasses because she couldn't have been less helpful. Last time I was helped by Rose who was more than accommodating and pleasant but was rudely interrupted by this same woman talking over Rose.
I had a terrible experience with Jen! I went in for an eye exam, and instead of offering professional advice or reassurance, she told me that my prescription was "so bad" and that I'd probably need eye surgery. Talk about an unnecessary and rude comment! No compassion, no attempt to explain things in a way that was helpful or reassuring. She completely lacked customer service skills and made me feel more anxious than when I walked in. If you want to feel like a patient, not a problem, avoid Jen at all costs!
The updated 5 star review is for Dr. Hasan and all of the staff at the vision center. I am very grateful for all of their assistance. They were very reassuring and supportive not only during the horrible experience I had with Dr.Jency Elakkatt but also every time I came in to ask questions/order glasses. Dr.Hasan was very profesional during my recent eye exam and even offered to answer any questions that I may have regarding my daughter's prescription. Therefore, I decided to update my review since the 1 star review was for Dr. Elakkatt, who no longer works here.
In response to Dr. Jen's review (Dr. Jency Elakkatt): I find it sad that Dr.Elakkatt seems incapable of self reflection. Instead, she felt the need to give herself a 5 star review and reference my post to negate or minimize the horrible experience she put me through. I'm curious if she Googles herself and that is how she saw my review or if maybe deep down she knew her behavior was unwarranted.
She claims to have used a "high voice" and making comments in a jokingly matter. If that were the case, her co-workers wouldn't have felt the need to apologize on her behalf. They also wouldn't have felt the need to reassure me days later that she no longer works there as apparently that was her last day. Which leads me to believe that may have influenced her inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.
We initially decided to go with the prescription from the 3rd exam. The ophthalmologist was very thorough and professional with his explanation. He mentioned that some specialists decide to gradually increase prescriptions vs his philosphy to provide the full amount at once as children are resiliant. My daughter did not complain about the new glasses nor did she fail to adjust as Dr. Elakkatt claims. She only tried on the new glasses for a minute as we decided to go in and order a new pair with lesser prescription the day after picking up the glasses. We were concerned that she wasn't going to have enough time to adjust to such a drastic change in prescription strength before starting school. We did not want to risk her getting headaches or feeling dizzy while also trying to adjust to a new teacher/classmates.
However, I still had to decide between 2 very different prescriptions. Only 1 of the remaining prescriptions had an astigmatism component listed. The only question I asked that day, was if the astigmatism would make a significant difference in her vision. The manager at the vision center understood my concern which is why she wanted to make sure I received an accurate response. Upon her return from asking the doctor, she tried to explain that Dr. Elakkatt told her that she normally doesn't include the astigmatism in the prescription until after age 9. She was interrupted by the doctor who came out to yell at me for daring to get another opinion and not trusting her. She even said no one in her 23 years of experience had ever questioned her expertise. To which I replied that is not what I was doing. I was simply trying to understand the differences between the prescriptions to make an informed decision for my daughter. She dismissed me and continued to fixate on her emotions instead of helping me decide what was best for her patient (my daughter). Once the doctor finally left, we continued our conversation. She looked mortified and was very apologetic for the doctor's reaction. After a thorough conversation, I then felt comfortable with my decision to proceed with the prescription without the astigmatism as her eyes will continue to develop the next couple of years.
As a mother herself and a doctor with years of experience, one would think she would be more compassionate and professional. I was offended by the doctor implying I was a bad mother for getting other opinions and supposedly confusing/harming my child for getting additional eye exams. Last I checked, eye exams are harmless and my daughter was never confused as I took the time to explain the importance of having the correct prescription to her.
