EyeCare Specialties - Lemont

Posting for transparency. My husband and I have been going to this clinic since Dr. Forzley owned it. After the office was taken over by new management, we were optimistic & even had a good experience in January 2025. I have even left a review previously about how wonderful this office is. Fast forward to now: At my recent visit it became very apparent that the previous family feel is gone. It really is a shame because the doctors are great (Dr. Flora is a 10/10 provider). After being told about price matching for contacts, we were told our price match wouldn't be accepted... okay, no problem, we can order the contacts at a different place... It's not personal, so why would we want to pay a lot more than what we need to? Well, if you don't order contacts through them, they won't give you a week's worth of trials to get you through until the new prescription is delivered (mind you I only ran out because I used my year supply and couldn't make an appointment until 1 year from my last visit date due to insurance). This information would've been annoying, but fine EXCEPT for the fact that the man delivering the information could clearly not care less about customer service and hardly had time to even give us as he was talking and walking away at the same time. He was stuck on "we have a guaranteed rebate"... well, I can get a better price elsewhere without the rebate... I wear daily contacts so will need to instead recycle my dailies while I wait for my new prescription to arrive. If you want a great doctor, nice tech & nice woman at check out, just be aware that it comes with the price of poor management and a rude manager.

Dr. Flora did a very thorough exam of my eyes and is a great listener. I was fitted for a pair of prescription readers that work just great. Once before I went to a franchise eye glasses place and was fitted wrong and very disappointed. Never again, I am sticking with Eye care Specialists in Lemont. I used to be legally blind and because of past and present care I received at this clinic I am no longer legally blind. Thank you great staff.

Dr Flora is an excellent provider! He took time to answer all my questions. I will continue coming to his practice for all my eye care needs

My daughter made an appointment for eye exam for contacts and was told they accept her vision insurance. During the exam she refused the additional services offered and was still charged an extra $95. When we called no one answered the phone. Customers Beware... we will try to dispute it with our credit card services.

I was charged extra for a service that I was not informed about. The assistant manager decided to argue with me and chose to believe his tech over me that there was consent. Refused to let me speak to another manager, the owner or the doctor. Told me it wasn't a private practice and it didn't work like that. Also refused to answer my question on whether it was policy to notify a patient that an optional service would be extra outside of the copay. I told them to have someone call me to discuss as I would only pay my copay and not the extra fee and then he withheld my school forms. Very unprofessional and argumentative. It's unfortunate as everyone else in the office was kind and professional, but one bad employee can really affect a business. Since I was not allowed to speak to anyone else I have no recourse other than a public review.

Very nice people very polite and concerned. If you need glasses I'm sure they can help you. They checked my eye which I was having an issue with and found no foreign ob. I went back my eye still the same and I was told they are OD doctors, not MD's there. They make glasses and prescribe antibiotics, maybe take out a foreign object if you have one. My second visit visit was just to bilk the insurance company, I guess since I I was told by the doctor that he was as far as he could go. I was given a referral down the street in town. They are NOT MD's, they are O.D's they are what a PA is to a doctor or a nurse practioner is to a MD doctor. BUT they charge the same. I will never return there for an actual eye problem other than glasses and I cant say they're good at that since I didnt get that far. Just wanted to share a lot of happy people who just need glasses I guess.

Received a bill today for an exam that was done in October 2024 and had already billed to my insurance company . Called to discuss this and they are stalling to answer where this bill came from. Both myself and husband received a bill for $155.00.

I've been going to this place since Dr. Forzley owned the practice. When all his staff left like Sherry and Pam, that's when things went downhill. I do agree with some other reviews that the front desk staff isn't that great, but I've never had any real problems with them. The whole office has a different feel now, kinda less personalized. Other than that, I think they're fine. Dr. Flora is great, very thorough.
