Illinois Express Eyecare

Bought a pair of glasses, but the lenses had too much chromatic aberration. So, I had them redo the lenses using a different material. The lenses didn't fit properly into the frames, but the chromatic aberration problem was solved. The ear plastic broke from adjustments so they replaced the frames. Due to one of the nose pieces interfering with the lenses, they were never completely straight. Id have to push them up to see properly. It was uncomfortable in several ways. They also would tend to slide off my face so I got plastic ear stubs to prevent it, but due to the imbalanced nose pieces, they would either eat into my ears or the frames wouldn't be straight on my face. So I settled for not having the frames straight on my face. The weld point at the end of the left lens gave way, so they are about the break in two. I never dropped them or stepped on them either. I bought them 1 3/4 years ago and they refused to fix them, because their warranty is only a year. I've never had so much trouble with glasses before. Now I am wearing my previous glasses that I got before 2004. I wore them for more than 10 years. They feel more balanced and solid, even though the ear plastic is entirely gone, replaced with my own solution and duct tape. They are more blurry, yet overall seem more satisfying to wear than these much newer ones were before they broke. I paid close to $200 for these new ones as I recall. ----UPDATE---- They called me back 4 weeks after I wrote this review and gave me new frames for free outside of the warranty period. Since they made a good effort to fix the problem, I improved my review rating from 1 to 4.

We had a horrible experience. They handed my daughter her glasses and she said 'I can't see!' Second day going there they said her prescription was changed a lot so it will take time to get use to them. But the doctor said they changed a little.They made the lenses wrong, the worker hit wrong numbers when making them. But isn't that why a place of business would have a check lenses before you give to customers policy? Very long story made short... Went there 4 times five days later still didn't get glasses so she could see. Asked for refund, said it will be in the mail. still no refund. Didn't give prescription after exam, or second time asking, and didn't want to give it at time of returning glasses for refund. Refused to give refund for eye exam even though that was wrong too.(and we found out by another doc it was wrong)

I recently returned to my work as an Optometrist here at Illinois Express Eyecare. I hope to put at least 10 years effort and will do all in my power to help make this practice the setting where all people will find care, compassion, and kindness always! I ordered a new pair of glasses that were supposed to be shipped to me within a week. I paid $14 for shipping only for my glasses to arrive three weeks later because the incompetent staff didn't print my address correctly for UPS. Instead of notifying me of their mistake, I had to call the store 4 times and spoke with various staff members who had no clue what I was talking about. Once the mistake was fixed, I was told I would be contacted with an update which never happened. I asked for a tracking number for my package and they told me they don't have a tracking number. I will definitely never come back.

Had to wait 40 minutes to get waited on as everyone was looking for a lost paper customer file. Then someone measured me for bifocal location. That had to be checked by an experienced employee who took another 10 minutes putting papers away. Her measurement was different. Then I was asked if I wanted no-line bifocals. No extra cost was mentioned. When the $200 bill came (for just lenses as I had my own frame I complained & changed to regular bifocals for $99 less. By now it was too late for "about an hour service. I was told to return Fri morning. Fri at 11am I was told they crushed a lens & had no replacement. If & when they're finished, I'll never set foot in their place again. I can't read without glasses.

I have had trouble with Dr. Funk for my past 2 visits. Initially, she had made a mistake with my prescription and could hardly admit she was wrong. This time, I waited for 35 minutes and she made me reschedule my appointment because I have a slight cold. Although the front desk staff is great, I will not be going to Illinois Express Eyecare as long as Dr. Funk is there and would like to save you all a trip.

Paid through the nose for two new pairs of glasses. They didn't feel right from the start, the staff wouldn't check them and insisted they were correct. Can't read street signs, can't read books, can't read the computer monitor.. Finally went somewhere else for new glasses, found out these glasses have + number prescriptions while both of my eyes have always been - numbers. No wonder I can't see with these expensive useless glasses! I will never come back here.

I understand some people may have had issues with this place in the past, but in my opinion, it has greatly improved. Everything was quick and it had a great selection of frames. The new optometrist was also very friendly and helpful.
