Compass Eye Care

Dr. Tan saw my daughter after she failed her preschool vision screening. My daughter was not the most cooperative patient, but Dr. Tan worked with her and was able to determine her vision needs. He explained everything thoroughly and recommended a milder prescription to give her time to adapt to the new lenses. We decided to purchase a second pair as a backup, at which time we were told we would receive a discount for (we never even asked). Very nice staff and a great experience as a whole.

I'm always very happy with the service I receive at Compass. The staff is warm and professional. I'm quite sensitive about my eyes so it's important that I feel comfortable wherever I get them examined. I always leave Compass feeling taken care of and relieved. Also the selection of frames is great. I can always find a stylish new pair of sunglasses. Highly recommend!

Everyone here is kind and friendly! I spoke to Sierra, and she helped me before seeing the doctor she was open and friendly and made great conversation through the eye checks! Dr. Serenda was patient and very amicable- she asked questions to assure I got the best results and explained everything she showed me and I asked so that I got the best understanding of things! And Mark was direct and yet warm. He was patient when I was choosing glass lenses- all in all an amazing it was an amazing experience with helpful and warm people and very clean and professional environment. 10/10 would recommend!

I always have a wonderful experience visiting Compass Eye Care for my annual eye exam. Our family always has a seamless experience, from booking appointments to the thorough and kind examination process. Dr. Tan is outstanding and treats patients with care and honesty. The staff members deliver kindness, details, and excellent customer service. I love the selection of sunglasses, and the staff helped me find and secure stylish yet functional pairs for everyday use and athletics use for running. Dr. Tan and his staff have helped our family with routine exams and emergencies, and I cannot say enough great things about Compass Eye Care.

I don't recommend going there. I had an eye exam last June at Compass Eye Care because I needed a prescription to order contact lenses. I've been wearing contact lenses for about six years now--the same brand that suits me best. I didn't realize that, besides a regular eye exam, I was also charged for a contact lens fitting. During the fitting, Dr. Alex Tan offered me a new type of contact lens that protects against blue light. However, he didn't consider the size of my eye or the lenses I had been wearing comfortably for years. They gave me a free sample to try, but after wearing them for just two hours, I developed a terrible headache, and my eyes were in pain. The lenses were stiff and too large for my eyes. In the end, I continued using the same brand I had always used, yet I was still charged for the contact lens fitting service. To make matters worse, they also charged me for contact lenses I never purchased. The samples they gave me were clearly marked "Not for sale," and Dr. Tan even confirmed that they were free. This felt like a scam. I had to call my insurance company to explain that I never ordered lenses from them, but I still lost my benefits for free contacts because of their mistake.

My experience at Compass Eye Care was amazing! So thankful I heard about this place. From the moment I stepped in I felt welcomed and comfortable, not only me but my toddler who I brought with me. Any questions I had were answered by the kind and patient staff and I felt taken care of by the tech as well. Dr. Tan was also very kind and communicated everything to me thoroughly. I haven't been to an eye doctor in quite some time so I was hesitant/nervous but I'm so glad I came here!l My husband and I will be back for ourselves, but also with our son to have his first visit here to check his eyes too. Thanks Compass :)

Customer service is a huge issue. My son went in to get his glasses adjusted and was told $40 by a woman who seemed like she did not want to be there. I called back and was told "no the cost is $5-$40." What?! Then my husband lost his glasses and called to get a replacement - emergency situation - and was told no because his prescription might have changed so he needed an appointment. He said he would pay for replacement with the same prescription he had and was told no, and no appointments soon. He went to Lens Crafters in River Forest instead - got him in same day, checked his prescription quick and got them ordered. They were super nice there also. You guys just lost 4 patients - our entire family is going somewhere else.
