Kirk Eye Center | River Forest Location

Excellent experience at Kirk Eye Center ! Everyone is very professional and kind. I had visits at both locations, Chicago and River Forest for cataract surgeries. Very efficiently run office, well organized, no waiting and there is state of the art equipment here ! Doctor Carter Kirk and his medical staff are Awesome ! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Kirk Center !

Had cataract surgery a little over 2 years ago. My eyesight is now great. Follow up visits are very thorough. Everyone there is kind and professional. As a bonus, they have the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen.

*****WORTH THE READ****TRUST*** Last week, I accompanied my 79-year-old neighbor to a follow-up appointment for her glaucoma surgery, scheduled for September 11, 2025. During the visit, we informed the technician that she was struggling to see clearly through her prescribed glasses. Upon conducting a routine examination, the technician discovered that the prescription in the lenses was incorrect. In fact, the prescription was reversed in the lenses. (It's worth noting that...) One week after purchasing the prescribed glasses for $130 (since their optical only accepts cash and doesn't accept insurance), we called the optical department to inform them that she couldn't see out of them. They assured us it was only temporary. Three weeks later, we called back and were given the same assurance. After the technician examined her eyes, the doctor came in to reexamine them. He adjusted her prescription slightly from the previous 20-minute exam and apologized for the lenses getting mixed up. He assured us that the issue would be corrected. We went to the optical department to have the glasses remade. I spoke with the optical manager and requested a refund for my 79-year-old neighbor, who had to pay $130. She wouldn't have had to pay if they had explained that she could take her prescription to another place that would make the glasses using her insurance. I explained that the inconvenience and the fact that they remake the glasses at their expense justified the refund. The optical manager asked if we had asked the doctor for a refund, and we hadn't because we thought the optical would handle it since the mistake was made there. She said she would ask the doctor. We waited about 15 minutes and she came back saying they couldn't refund us, but they would correct their mistake. I expressed my dissatisfaction, but I wasn't rude or loud. As we were leaving the store, I told my neighbor that I would write a review about the experience. The optical manager jumped up and said yes, thank you, and she was going to tell the doctor. I said okay, thanks, and she rushed to the back. My neighbor had to use the restroom, and while we were there, our friend (a Caucasian young girl) waited for us. The lady behind the desk and the optical manager (now back from the back room) said to her, "I'm sorry you had to deal with people like them." Who are "them"? African Americans. This is a clear case of discrimination, unprofessionalism, and disrespect. Don't patronize this establishment. Try McCarthy Eye Center in Oak Park. My parents were treated with respect and professionalism there. I could not post without giving them one star.

Thanks a million! Mom eyes are so much better! We appreciate the quick appointment, the professional services, and the easy prescription pickup service at Jewel-Osco across from to Kirk Eye Center. Mom's eye situation cleared up just as Dr. Gill said it would, in four to five days. We're grateful for the help. Be blessed! This will be our new go-to place for eyecare in the near future.

Dr Scott Kirk has been my doctor for many years. He has always been kind and thorough and recently performed cataract surgery on my eyes. Efficient, painless, and amazing results!

Title: Disappointed with Service and Treatment During My Visit at Kirk Eye Center in River Forest in 2024 Review: I visited Kirk Eye Center in River Forest somewhere between September and October 2024 for an eye exam, and unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the service or the way I was treated during my visit. As a patient seeking professional eye care, I expected a welcoming and attentive environment, but my experience left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. After my eye exam, I received an eye prescription and proceeded to the section where they display frames. When I asked who could help me choose frames, a woman working in that section at the time told me that they do not accept the insurance I had and also implied that I could not afford the frames because they were expensive. I found this comment unprofessional and discouraging, as every patient deserves to be treated respectfully and without assumptions about their finances. I had a follow-up eye appointment scheduled for October 7, 2025, and when I was asked to confirm it today, I carefully considered my previous experience from 2024. Based on how I was treated, I decided to cancel the appointment and will be seeking eye care elsewhere. I did not post a review at the time of my visit in 2024, trying to forget about it, but after receiving a text message today reminding me about the upcoming appointment, the bad experience came back to me. That is the reason I am posting this review today, 10/01/2025. I believe that every patient deserves to feel respected, valued, and well cared for, especially when it comes to eye health. I hope that by sharing my feedback, Kirk Eye Center can take this constructively and work to improve the patient experience for future individuals seeking eye care. -- Jose Isaac

My sister-in-law had cataract surgery and did very well! Thank you Kirk Eye Center in River Forest! From the initial surgery to the follow-up appointments, the office staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful every step of her eye surgery journey. Excellent experience. The best!! Dr.Kirk was so kind and concerned. He thoroughly explained everything and even got another consult from his colleague, Dr.Kirk. Both Dr.Kirks were so nice and explained everything to me . I appreciate their kindness! Also, the young gentleman who was the transcriber / assistant for Dr. Kirk was so nice, kind and so very helpful to me. I truly appreciate him as well. I received excellent services.
