My son was home for the weekend from college and broke his glasses. Rick was able to fix them and recommended a great diner for breakfast while we waited. So appreciative! He did a great job and they look brand new! Highly recommend.
Rick was able to squeeze me in at the last minute at the end of the day after work and straightened out my bent glasses in 5 minutes. When I tried to offer him some payment he said "Don't worry about it". The repair fits excellent and he is a great repairman! Cannot recommend highly enough! If your eyeglass vendor says they can't fix it, call Rick!!
I broke my glasses in a fall, found Ricks with a google search,I went there was greeted by Ricks wife and was so happy to chat with her,a very lovely lady she told us it would be a half an hour we could wait in her house or our car we choose the car I didn't want to impose on them as we hadn't made an appointment. Within 15 minutes I had my glasses fixed and polished up to brand new condition and the price was unbelievable I felt like I had the absolute best service for an unbelievable low price I will tell all my customers and friends and relatives about my experience .
Rick and Mary are Great People. Rick fixed my glasses in 30 minutes and the price was very affordable. Mary and I had a great conversation while I was waiting. If you're debating wether to try them out..... Don't. Just call and they will help you out. Honest people. I highly recommend them. I drove from Waukegan and it was definitely worth it. .
How I came to know about Rick's Welding and Eyeglass Repair is kind of an amazing story since I live in Orlando, Florida and he is in South Elgin, Illinois! My partner keeps breaking his glasses - just the frames, not the lenses. Since I am the one who buys his glasses, I got very tired of spending $150 - $200 every time another pair broke. Only one frame exists that is stylish enough for my taste, lol, and that is because of the size. They are made by BMEC and, even BMEC's (Big Mens) line only has one frame that totally fits him with a large enough lens length. Lens length is not even mentioned when you are looking for a particular size frame. After years of rebuying his broken frame, I finally got so disgusted that I decided to track down and call the company who makes this frame - BMEC. They are located in Chicago, IL. I conneccted with an agent for the company and recited my tale of woe. I specifically centered my argument around the fact that EVERY PAIR OF BMEC BIG TIMBER always breaks in the same spot. One hinge at the temple on one side always breaks or tears. I needed help because I refused to buy another pair. I was at the end of my rope with this!
The company representative informed me that they had no repair ability for this product. The frames are manufactured overseas somewhere and she had no access to a repair person or facility. She had no way of contacting any person who had anything at all to do with the manufacturing of this product. Were they made by elves somewhere, I wondered? I kept pushing. Could she speak to someone high up in her company and explain my problem? Could a CEO or a Director of her company try to reach out for me? Do they have no quality control? I have four pairs of broken Big Timbers and nobody can repair them unless I want to pay what the frames with the lenses cost to begin with! No thanks. That would defeat the whole purpose of trying to get them repaired!
As I was continuing to complain to her about how disgusted
and frustrated I had become over this issue, out of nowhere, she mentioned that she had heard of somebody near Chicago who is a welder and fixes broken glasses frames at a reasonable price. What? I replied, excitedly! Could you give me his name? Yes, she could and also his number. She clearly stated that she had no personal experience with Rick's Welding and this is ONLY what she had "heard." I thanked her over and over and said how grateful I was that maybe a solution existed?
I looked up Rick's Welding and Glasses Repair and saw all of the positive reviews. WOW! Did I finally have an answer? YES and YES! I called Rick and he couldn't have been any nicer. I could send him all of the broken pairs of my partner's "eyewear" and he would fix them. He estimated $25 a pair. Fine with me! I shipped off a box with 6 broken frames (4 Big Timber and 2 pairs of Ray Ban polarized sunglasses). I enclosed a letter telling Rick that the Ray Bans were worse because pieces of plastic were chipped off where the hinge was broken and I didn't expect much on those.
Today I got my box of repaired glasses in the mail! 5 out of 6 pairs completely repaired like new! SO AMAZING! Rick is truly a genius! How lucky am I to find him? And all because I kept prodding that agent for a solution. I really am so grateful to Rick and I think I will NEVER have to buy another pair of Big Timber by BMEC. My partner now has a total of 7 intact pairs (the 4 that Rick repaired to perfection, a spare pair that he keeps in his briefcase, a new pair that were already on order when I decided to call BMEC and the pair hanging around his neck! Plus, when he breaks the next pair or if his prescription changes, NO PROBLEM. We have a lifetime supply! And, one more thing...Rick DOESN'T charge enough! When have you ever heard anyone say that!!!? I am mailing out a check to Rick today and I am paying him more than the amount on my invoice! THANK YOU, RICK!! YOU ROCK!

Amazing! I rolled over my eyeglasses already in bad shape overnight they repaired them ASAP the next morning when I called. Took less than an hour and the glasses look better than they did before they were broken!!!! Both Rick and his wife are just so so sweet! Will recommend to ANYONE.
I would give him a billion dollars if I had it! I was told that they were goners from the eye care place where I bought them. Couldn't reorder them because they were discontinued. I really loved this pair. I was desperate. I searched glasses repair specialist and ended up here. I read all the reviews and seen that there was not one single negative review. I called today while I was at work and asked if I could come when I got off work. They were fixed in under half an hour. Very inexpensive. 10/10 would recommend!! I'm so happy!
Rick was super friendly and had my glasses repaired whilst I was waiting. His wife was super friendly and we had a fun chat. Great work, very fair pricing and great service; hard to beat! Worth knowing: Rick works out of his house, so there is no big sign or storefront, just trust your gps that you are at the right place!
