David A. Plager, MD - Riley Pediatric Ophthalmology

My 9 year old son has been seeing Dr. Plager since he was 2 months old. Dr. Plager has helped my son achieve the best vision he is capable of after being born with a cataract in in right eye. His bed side manners are direct and to the point without any fluff so some may not care for him because he is not flowery. However, I completely trust his judgement and surgical ability and the team at Riley hospital brought back vision to my son when our first Dr's visit elsewhere had given no hope. I highly recommend Dr. Plager and the staff at Riley Hospital. My son successfully went through cataract surgery, diagnostic surgery, nine years of eye therapy, and has currently been on glaucoma medication for a year with positive results.

Dr. Plager saw my oldest son when he was 3 and confirmed what we suspected - that he was losing vision because he was cross eyed. Dr. Plager began by prescribing "non-invasive" ways to correct the problem (patching) and when that didn't work - he performed the eye muscle surgery which saved my son's vision. Three years later, I took my other son to see Dr. Plager because he too was cross - eyed, Fortunately for my younger son, his problem was completely corrected with prescription glasses. I LOVE the fact that Dr. Plager didn't "jump" right into surgery for my second son, even after the GREAT job he did on my oldest son's surgery. Dr. Plager is a super star in my book. Great bedside manner - explains what's going on fully - and recommends what's BEST for the patient.

Dr. Plager and his team are amazing. Its terrifying to find out that your baby needs surgery, but the outcome couldn't have been better. He restored his sight and he's now a happy, healthy little boy again :)

Dr Plagger is very knowledgeable about his specialty. He is kind to his patients and most of all he wanted to make sure my 4 yr old son got the best eye care possible!

He's always been amazing with our daughter. Knowledgeable, caring, and professional.
