Great provider for our whole family. Dean is a fantastic optician helping choose and fit glasses. Dr McLean fitted a family member having double vision with prism lenses. A nice comprehensive exam for all. Been patients there for 8 years.
My family and I have been going to Lauck & McLean for 15-ish years. At first this was expensive, but so worth it!
The doctors remained very good, the frames are rugged (but SOO EXPENSIVE), and the lenses and contacts have always been right.
The last few years the service has deteriorated. The desk staff is not overtly rude, but seem very unconcerned and disinterested in the patients that come in. It's odd, really.
We are also seeing mistakes being made - they don't call us when contacts come in - they forget to order contacts.
We have decided to move our business elsewhere. I will also send a note into the office - they deserve to know why we are leaving. Hopefully they will be able to make changes and become great again.
Dr. McLean is wonderful. She is fun and efficient while doing a thorough eye examination. The staff is friendly and quick. The variety of eyeglass frames available is exactly what I would expect to see in a quality operation such as this one. I have been a patient at this location for several years and have no desire to change.
i have been coming here for years and not once have i been disappointed. Dr. Hunt is amazing and would never consider switching. At one point, my job switched insurance carrier and this practice was no longer preferred, but that did not matter to me and i paid cash for all my services and materials just so i can remain a customer. Not to mention, every year i come back for my annual, they always have some new high tech device that makes things easier and comfortable for me.
I can't thank Brad and the entire Lauck and McLean staff enough for their generosity and helping out one of my students in ensuring that they had an up to date exam as well as a functioning pair of glasses. My family and I have been patients for a long time and now will be patients for life. I highly encourage everyone to give them your business. Thank you so much!
We've been patients here for the past 3 years. Typically the experience is pleasant. We just saw Dr. Mclean today and the entire experience has caused me to search for another provider. We went in for a routine appointment with interest in contacts since my 13 year old plays basketball and can't wear his glasses during the game.
The issue started when we went to pay for the visit. I was told the cost for me and my son would be $135 since it was a premium contact exam and our first time being fitted. I asked what was "premium" about it and they tried to convince me that it was because they had to "teach" me how to insert my contact. They didn't have to do that because I've worn contacts before. After a few minutes going back and forth and 2 other staff members coming up to support the front office clerk, they realized the price was incorrect and changed it to a "standard" visit. They stand by the reason they charged my son $135 even though they only spent 30 mins trying to let him put the contacts in, didn't let us leave with the contact so he can practice, and refuse to write us a prescription to go to another optometrist.
If I had not advocated for myself, I would have been charged $95 more than I should have. I also noticed they called my son's visit a "single vision spectacle fitting" but it was for contacts. I texted them and pointed it out and they apologized for the oversight but insisted the price charged was correct.
Dr. McLean called me after hours today to reaffirm the price they charged is correct and anytime I tried to explain the issue today, interrupted me to make her point. It wasn't until I asked her to stop and let me finish what I was saying that she apologized and let me speak. This experience was the worst I've ever encountered at an office visit. The lack of patience and professionalism is awful.
Unfortunately, we have to return because we can't get a prescription without doing so but I'm in search of another provider for my family as of Jan 2022. I'll be sure to make it know to anyone speak to that this is not where
We have utilized them for years, at one time we tried some less expensive places, but all I can say is you get what you pay for! I spent a year in glasses that were horrid. One trip back to see Dr. McLean and all was right with the world. LOVE these people, Dr. McLean, Brad, everyone is just delightful and caring and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure things are perfect for us. Highly recommend trying them out!
This is by far the worst professional establishment I have ever had the misfortune to utilize. I received an eye exam in June 2016 and based on that prescription got new glasses made in February 2017. The new glasses were difficult to see with, and it was suggested that I get a new eye exam. The new exam (at a different eye place) resulted in a distinguishably different prescription. I understand that people's eyes can change in less than a year, but I have never had that happen. Being that the prescription was less than a year old and that I had to have another exam, I called Dr. Lauck and McLean and explained the situation. I asked for a refund of my first exam and the manager I spoke with named Brad, shouted at me "Absolutely not!" and HUNG UP ON ME!
I was in the process of telling him that the Doctor that I had seen had also done a contact lens fitting on me, but when I went back after the two week trial of the lenses she suggested, the subsequent doctor gave me an entirely different set of lenses (including the prescription!). He also explained that the original doctor had left the practice.
Based on all this, I would steer clear of this place. They have a pretty building in Carmel, but something is off about this place. Unfortunately, I have to give one-star in order to post this review - it will not let me give zero stars.
