In mid July I was taken to the hospital with anaphylaxis. My right eye swelled shut. After I came home from the hospital my regular doctor treated it with steroid drops and antibiotic drops. After about two and a half months my eye had not improved and he suggested I see Dr. Pesavento, who was my eye specialist I called to make an emergency appointment and was told it would be after the first of the year. I explained that I was blind in my right eye and the eye was infected and very painful. They gave me an appointment and told me they would work me in. My request was to see the doctor. Instead I had several painful test by his techs. One ever did the examination for glasses. When I finally got to the final room and the doctor showed up he never even ask me what the problem was. He looked at my eyes, that the tech had already dilated, and said, "you have a scratched cornea. I'm going to change your eye drops." That was two minutes wasted. I went in checkout where I was told I owed for the glasses prescription, which my insurance would not cover. I tried to explain that I did not come for glasses. and even though I advised every tech that ran any test that I could not see anything out of my right eye, I was advised I would have to pay it. Dr. Pesavento nor his staff were of any help. I made an appointment with Lanter Eyecare and found my eye was more than just a scratched cornea. Thank God, after a few visits my sight has improved. The pain has gone away. They discharged me for now, with instructions and a followup in March. By then i may be able to consider eye glasses. I probably will never get it back to where it was but, I can see shapes and colors as opposed to just white. I gave them one star only because that was my only choice. I will never recommend this service. In total these experience cost me over $180.00

Dr Pesavento is a strait shooter, he will tell you like it is! Very thorough and he is sharp doctor. Glad to have him looking after me.

Yesterday was my first visit. I was coming from a horrible experience with another eye office and brought some anxiety with me from that. But it was totally different here. I was very impressed with the front desk staff (very helpful), nursing staff (extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind), and Dr Pesavento. They developed a long term plan for my eye health. Thank you! I'll definitely return.

I have seen Dr. Pesavento for 4-5 years or more. My low rating is because of the Office Manager. I missed an appointment and was told I would have to pay the missed appointment fee. At that time I said I wouldn't pay it. Later found an appointment card, realized I was wrong and went on line and paid the fee. When I called to schedule an appointment, I would told I had been discharged per direction of the Office Manager, would not be able to see Dr. Pesavento and that my payment for the missed appointment had been refunded. I was told Dr Pesavento was aware of all of this and agreed to my discharge. I expressed concern that I felt my vision had changed and was worried re: continued vision loss. That apparently meant nothing. I found another ophthalmologist-I have glaucoma and sight loss due to histoplasmosis but when I called Dr Pesavanto's office to ask for a referral, I was told this would not be given because I hadn't been seen since 2023, even tho I had called several times requesting an appointment. Other office staff have been great and tried to help, but Office Manager has blocked everything AND she have never called me although I requested she do so several times.

My expectations were not correct going into my appointment. So, based on my experience, the best thing to do in this review is to set your expectations correctly. I saw my primary doctor and was referred to this eye specialist. My expectation was that my issue would be corrected rather easily. The reality is that they wanted one appointment as a consultation just to see the medical need with their own eyes. Then, I would later need to schedule another visit for the corrective action needed. I was also given the option to wait and see if it improves on its own. I opted not to schedule another visit after waiting over a month for the first appointment. I just feel like my medical needs aren't being taken seriously and they care more about money than patient needs. Revising my review after being billed for more time than I was there (and more decision making) based on billing code. I learned more from an ophthalmologist on YouTube researching after the visit than I did during the visit.

Dr. Pessavento and his staff are just amazing. They all work together as a team to make your experience good. I was anxious but they took away any worries I had. Would definitely recommend him if you need anything done with your eyes. He is the best.

I only saw Dr Pesavento one time, but he got me to Associated Vitreoretinal and Uveitis Consultatants after dealing with chronic uveitis for nearly a year and the physician at Midwest Eye not communicating with me and not appropriately treating my condition. I'm on the right path now and getting the treatment I should have been getting at Midwest. I appreciate Dr Pesavento's concern, clear communication, appropriate diagnosis and a quick referral to the right place. I would definitely recommend him.

During my last visit Dr Pesavento asked if I needed any refills I stated I was getting patient asst & was getting my Restais free His tone of voice changed & he said "I don't have time to work with paperwork" I mentiomed he might want to advice his other patients of this offer He yelled at me "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO IGNORE MY OTHER PATIENTS?" & slammed the door so hard you could've heard it all over the ofc. I found another DR but today received a certified letter stating he no longer could be my DR. Little did he know I'd already found another DR!!! Glad I don't have to work for him plus over the years his ofc help sure keeps changing.
