D' Sol Optical

I had a great experience at D'Sol. The selection is huge! The doctor went over my vision issues and explained in great detail how to correct them. I highly recommend D'Sol if you are in need of any vision assistance. They are very helpful in explaining the options available and most knowledgeable in insurance.

Dr. Hawker and his team are excellent! Dr. Hawker spent much more time with me than was expected. He took the time to educate me on everything pertaining to my issues and was more than pleasant. His wife also spent a good amount of time with me to find the write type of solution for me. The office is very nice and has a very bright and vibrant feel to it. This is just a great office with great people! I'd highly recommend them!

First time visitor for my annual eye exam. I was looking for a smaller less retail environment to shop for glasses. The doctor was great, but I will be going to another provider due to the sales team. 1. The frame selection was small and just okay. They have a similar if not identical selection to SVS vision and VisionFirst. My questions about bringing in my own frames were met with the unenthusiastic tone described below. 2. They BEGAN our conversation as a stated fact that my glasses would be $800 as my out of pocket costs after my insurance for one pair. When I asked for a detail of the priced options the demeanor of the sales rep shifted and she was noticably less enthused to work with me. No questions were asked about what lens options I would like beyond the eyezen lens the doctor wrote on my prescription. I'd have liked transitions with that lens, and a discussion about my options. 3. The doctor told me the team up front would provide my pupillary distance (or 'PD') for an online order, as *all of my previous providers have.* When I asked for my pupillary distance she refused to give that to me. Providers are not legally required to provide patients PD in Indiana, but it is a professional courtesy in all of my experience as a patient and optician, especially as the pre-examination equipment records that as it is often kept in a patients medical chart anyways. Having been in the same role through college, I understand they make commission on their sales and respect that and understand wage structure of opticians often drive sales tactics. In any case, you can get a more comprehensive sales experience who will discuss options, pricing, and provide your comprehensive prescription needs at other nearby providers in my experience including: LensCrafters/Webb Family Eye care, SVS Vision, and VisionFirst. Ironic sidenote; I generally purchase two pairs of regular glasses. One for pair for home/outdoor use (Transitions + AR) and a professional pair (Blue light + AR) that stays in my office. I also purchased two sunglasses: a polarized pair with AR for outdoor use and a tinted pair that can stay in my glovebox without crazing. I Imagine my probing was off-putting as it came across as 'cheap.' Had the rep asked, she would have understood that my sale would have been a decent commission.

Dr Hawker and all the staff are so wonderful. We have three boys and they have been so patient with all of their needs. Definitely the best eyecare around. I would recommend 100%. They have a huge assortment of glasses to choose from. They are very accommodating for contacts. One of my sons scratched his eye, and we went right in, and he was seen and taken care of immediately. This was a huge relief for this mama. Our entire family has only good things to say about this place.

Before making the appointment I verified my insurance was accepted and asked about kids glasses. I was assured they had a large selection of kids frames and told my insurance was accepted. I took my kids out of school for the appointment and waited over 30 minutes just to be told they didn't know how to determine our coverage, looking at me like it was my problem to work out. Perhaps she was new but the other receptionist was rude and unhelpful, plus they have the smallest selection of frames I've ever seen. Even if we had gotten the exam we would have had to go elsewhere for frames. Don't waste your time. SVS Clarksville is the best, if only our insurance was still accepted there!

Dr. Hawker and his staff were exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. Dr. Hawker listened to my concerns and went out of his way to make sure to find glasses and lenses that are functional for my everyday life and concerns. His staff spent extra time trying to help me find the perfect pair of frames and answered all questions I had. I overheard him briefly talking to another patient about looking into up-and-coming treatments for what I could only assumed to be a complicated diagnoses since personal information was not discussed. He was not only trying to find out about the newest treatments available, but also looking into figuring out how to help her get the cost covered. It's rare to find a provider who truly cares enough to spend spare time looking into additional treatments to give better quality of life and to provide hope. The whole experience was honestly heartwarming to hear.

Dr. Hawker is the best doctor around! I love that D'Sol is a family practice and the staff really does make you feel like family. Kendra, Lacy, and Mildred are extremely helpful and informative. I truly enjoy my visits to D'Sol Optical and highly recommend their services.

Staff was polite and kind. They listened to my 7yo and made her visit enjoyable. The doctor was very down to earth and made both of our visits easy. Finally got a script that works well for me and my eye problems. Definitely recommend and will be going there from now on.
