Dr. Black's Optometry

I had my eyes checked recently because I was seeing double and blurry vision with lots of floaters. They explained that I needed to go back to the place where I had my cataract eye surgery (which was done 2 years ago.) Dr Kayla Black scheduled me to see the facility to repair my vision. I picked up my new eyeglasses today at Dr's Black offices. The laser surgery to repair my vision after cataract surgery was successful but I still needed new glasses. I am happy! I can see clearly now!

Over the years I've had nothing but trouble doing business over the phone. I'd ask for a prescription to be faxed over so I could get it filled for an emergency, and then days later it still is not faxed. This occurred on multiple occasions. This pales in comparison to recent events, however. I had an appointment scheduled for January 6th 2025. Of course that's when the major snowstorm hit. The office closed that day. I get a call January 7th to reschedule for..... Feb 25th! Which would be fine, if I weren't on my last pair of contacts (monthlies). By January 6, they were already weeks old. I asked for trial contacts during that phone call. I never heard anything from these people since then, so I called January 27. They never ordered the contacts! At this point I'm well over a month into my last pair of contacts. They said they cannot order a trial pair of contacts without doctor approval since my prescription is expired. Well, if it hadn't been rescheduled 7 weeks after we initially agreed, this wouldn't have been a problem! I was told the doctor would call me the next day, in January 28th. It is now the end of business on the 29th. Never got a call! This is typical fashion for this establishment. You have lost your business to AW eye care in Robinson, IL. I have an appointment tomorrow 01/30 at 12 central!

Black Optometry is fantastic, they stand behind their product of examining and then correcting vision. I had recently underwent cataract surgery in both eyes. Dr S. Black did my exams and prescribed new lenses. When I received the lenses my vision wasn't perfect and I tried to adapt to the new lenses but something just wasn't right. Dr Black saw me again and ordered new lenses. The new lenses are perfect and my vision is great. They also have all the "bells and whistles" of prescription lenses ie coatings and transitions lenses. These were provided at no additional cost! Thank you Black Optometry!

The eye exam I received from Dr. Kayla Black was very thorough and educational. The techs I worked with to choose classes and then to have them fitted were knowledgeable. I'm very pleased with my new glasses, and I was able to order new lenses for my sunglasses. A positive experience!

We recently moved here from out of state. I had been meaning to find a local optometrist. However, before I had the chance to I broke my glasses. They were able to fit me in that same morning, which I am very grateful for. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Covid precautions were also diligent. I saw Dr. Kayla Black and she is a very excellent optometrist! If you are looking for a new provider, I highly recommend her and this practice.

I have been patient of Dr. Black for about thirty years. I have never had a negative experience. I have always been pleased with my exam and the process of choosing frames. His staff are professional, friendly, and skilled. He must be a good employer, because his staff rarely changes, which tells me they really like working for him.

Dr. Black was fantastic. Our sons teacher recommended he get his eyes checked for issues. Dr. Black did an outstanding exam with me in the room and recommended a different reading method (using a bookmark to stay on line) and not glasses. He explained that our sons eyes were simply "untrained" and we had nothing to worry about. Peace of mind and no recommendations of things that were not needed.
