Very friendly staff, as always. No issues there. Eye appointments done just fine, and at this point that's all I go there for, because my first issue:
Overpriced. I don't blame the staff or whatnot, I'm sure the Luxottica company has plenty to do with the pricing. But plastic or cheap-material frames have no business being over $200, sometimes double that. Hence why I only go there for eye exams, because prescription glasses are 3 - 4 times cheaper online, WITH all the bells and whistles. But hell, they do have a cheapo sub-$100 section if you so need, even if it is still much more expensive than online for frames alone. My issue here is that glasses are so expensive overall that my insurance won't corner all of it so even cheap glasses with very few bells or whistles cost plenty out of pocket, where nice glasses and lenses LOADED with features are under $200 online, and often cheap enough that my insurance reimburses all of it. But enough on that, that's not my main issue, that's pretty normal for store vs online.
My main issue: prescription copy. Mainly, PD number. They're inconsistent about this, as sometimes they will print it without a fuss, and other times they wanna charge me $30 just to include my PD number in my prescription copy unless I buy glasses through them. I have issue with this. Like, they already get my insurance money for the exam. Straight up, I'm not buying glasses from them unless I need them immediately. That's really the ONLY upside to getting glasses in-store, is the option for same day service. Even with good insurance, they're still too expensive for what they are. So here's how it is: they can either keep my business for eye exams only, give me a copy of prescriptions with PD numbers on record (given my PD was recently measured), and be happy with that....or I can take my business elsewhere. I don't appreciate trying to charge me $30 just to tell me how far my eyes are apart.
I'm using the PD from my last prescription given they said my prescription hasn't changed from last time to today. But next year, with my next exam, if they refuse my PD again, it will probably be my last visit. I'm not trying to be a Karen, but $30 for pupillary distance is a little steep. Rubs me the wrong way.
Edit: I understand most of your points, but the price for the PD measurement alone is a little steep, especially if it was already recently done. Also, you mention inferior lenses. I mean, sure, without a testing rig of my own, I can't test specifics between yours and online. But, as far as lenses were concerned, I get similar performance (and waaay more coatings/enhancements/options or whatever) for a considerably lower price. Now I get it, online orders aren't as easy to compete with, so I wasn't even super concerned in lens pricing.
The frames alone. Plain old mass produced plastic frames go as high as several hundred dollars by themselves there, and in my opinion, frames alone have no business being so high for the very little material and time spend manufacturing them. Sure, you tweak them a bit from person to person after installing lenses. But even good titanium frames by themselves still have no business being more than $200 and even then...
I get most of your points and I know most of your employees just want to help and tons set the prices. I also get the warranties. That's really the biggest thing you guys have one online, is usually same day service. But that doesn't excuse the problem with the eyewear industry, and the US medical industry in general, and online competition is only just beginning to make a difference. My points kinda still stand. Prices are high for what they are, and regardless of if it was measured last month or a year ago and needs redone, $30 to measure PD is a little steep. Thanks.
Very disappointed.
Ordered contacts there on 3/21/22. Paid $100 plus for them. Was hoping to have them before vacation the following week. They didn't, no biggie, I was sure when I returned home they'd be here. They weren't. So today I called. They said you can check their status on the HelloAbby site, with the order number. So I informed her that I don't have an order number, since they received my money and placed the order. She stated to check my email, I should have received one. [All of this while she could have looked into it herself.] So I hang up, search my email and find nothing, and I call them back. She takes the time to look into it...and low and behold, there is no order. Wasn't mad at this point, mistakes happen and she tells me they will place the order. That I can get some samples in the meantime, and that I could pick them up. I told her that it is an hours drive round-trip, can they just mail them. She replies yes they can be mailed, at an EXTRA COST.
Then began my frustration...I said even though this is your company's error, that they'd had my $100+ sitting in their account for almost 2 weeks and hadn't placed the order...in order to get some to get by I'd have to make a special trip, to their office [ at a cost of gas, wear and tear on my car]. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor, she said she wasn't in today. I said I would like her to call me.
VERY disappointed in this company.
I made an appointment for August 7, 2024, when I made the appointment for visual acuity test I was told by a receptionist that this procedure was done at this facility. Upon arrival and giving my information, which I'm on file and received this examination in Linton ,IN many times. Additionally I was told that the cost was 55$ .Upon arrival I was asked where are my glasses, I do have glasses but do not need them for a visual acuity test. Finally, I was asked if I could produce the paper work for my exam? And in essence they do not have the proper equipment or qualified personnel to do said examination.? Wait it gets better the receptionist said who told you that we could do a visual acuity examination, obviously implication of a lie. I was wondering where Dr Baker was at?
My husband ordered glasses first pair were ready within a couple weeks . Ordered second pair at that time was overcharged on my debit card which was returned in a timely manner. Was told second pair of glasses were in but when he went to pick them up they weren't and they didn't know when they would be in . It's been over a month now and still no glasses. Will not be returning here.
I love how fast & convenient they are. I called Tuesday and was schedule for an eye exam that following Thursday. Little to no wait time once I arrived for my appointment. Staff was friendly and easy to talk to! Dr. Eli was very helpful & informative. Eye exam took probably 30minutes, quick and easy. My glasses were ready within an hour and a half.
What a wonderful ending to such an aggravating situation! EyeWorks has been fantastic!! The staff is amazing! They've all been so friendly accommodating!! Not only have they been dealing with me over the last several days while trying aquire my prescription from Marion Eye Center, they set me right up as soon as walked in today. I have new contacts in, a new pair of glasses in my purse, and a year supply of contacts that'll be here within a few days! They hooked me up with some amazing deals and went above & beyond to make this a great experience! Thank you all so much!! I will definitely be back!!
My worst experience getting glasses in 35 years. Stanton eye care in evansville formerly held this title. I've heard of inflation, but over $800 for two pairs of glasses and an exam. I felt robbed. Customer service very poor. They said, one pair would be ready in an hr. but other pair might take a week. I said call when they both ready. They call 10 days later to tell me glasses ready, but only pair that was ready in an hr was ready. Wasted trip! Over two weeks and still waiting to hear about 2nd pair. DON"T GO HERE!
Some of the staff is very rude. Everytime I asked a question it was a maybe or I don't know. They also kept my daughter's glasses for months on end to
Be fixed I had to go buy glasses from somewhere else. If anywhere else in town would accept my insurance I would go there an not bother wasting my time here. Definitely need to work on customer service an knowledge about appointments and everyday questions.
