Eye Associates

On April 3, 2025 I ordered reading glasses with a progressive lens. The progressive lens were new to me. When I picked up the glasses and tried them on they did not feel right. I couldn't read anything with them unless I held the item I was reading up in the air and lifted my chin up. The Eye Associate representative suggested I try them for a couple of weeks and then decide if they worked for me. He told me that if they did not work that it would be no problem to bring them back and get rid of the progressive lens and simply stick to the reading glasses. After two weeks I knew that the progressive lens was not working for me. I still had to raise up items to read and still lift my chin up. And when I tried to simply look straight out the lens it was a blur vision at any distance. I decided to have just reading glasses. Unfortunately when I asked about getting credit back due to the progressive lens not working for me in any capacity...I was told that they made it clear to me when I bought the glasses that if the progressive lens didn't work I still had to pay for that type of lens. I can honestly tell you that I was never told that when I ordered the glasses. They made it very clear to me that if they didn't work out for me that it was no problem to change them to simply reading glasses. Had I known that this was their policy I would have simply kept the glasses and bought a reading pair elsewhere. Paying $402 dollars for just the progressive lens when it didn't work for me is ridiculous. In addition, I also bought sunglasses and simply asked that they be polarized and added a scratch coat protection. When I picked up the sunglasses they didn't seem clear at all. I brought them back and found out that they put my reading prescription in them. So they got sent back and fixed. They told me that even though they put prescription lens in the sunglasses they never charged me for it. But I was charged a $56 cost per lens regardless of whether or not they had a prescription in them. I would not recommend that you buy any type of glasses from Eye Associates in Coralville, IA. Good place for an eye exam, but take your prescription elsewhere to buy glasses.

The new Coralville location is beautiful and conveniently located. The staff is friendly and helpful- Matt is great at helping you pick out frames. Dr Nickolas J. Huisman is a great addition to Eye Associates!

I've never written a google review before, but I thought this would be a good place to start. I have a somewhat complicated eye health history, and in previous experiences, I haven't felt heard or like I was receiving appropriate care. I had an appointment today and I cannot recommend them enough. The secretary, nurse, and Dr. Huisman were all so attentive, kind and diligent! It was an easy process, and they answered all of my questions. As long as I live in the Iowa City area, I will be seeking care from this team.

For years they had a receptionist that should not be doing receptionist work. She is no longer there. Hopefully she found work more appropriate to her personality. Overall, over the last several years, I have had more positive experiences than negative. Good optometrist care. Frames and lenses are pricey but this is not unusual.

I've been going to this eye doctor for 30+ years now & I couldn't imagine having any other eye doctor. Dr. Weihe is very attentive & easy to talk to. He remembers your medical history & has helpful input & recommendations. His staff is great too! They are friendly & their attention to detail helps the process go smooth

I got a confirmation email for an appointment and took time off of work to go in to their office. When I showed up they said my appointment was not for another month. I showed them the confirmation email and they just said, "I don't know who sent that lets reschedule you." Offered nothing as a way to make up for my lost time and inconvenience. Avoid this business.

Amazing staff, super respectful, helpful and caring, as well as very knowledgeable. Dr. Weihe has year of experience and it shows. It's hard for me to trust people with my eyes, but I feel like I'm in good hands with Dr. Weihe.

I requested an appt in Coralville and was scheduled in Iowa City. Front desk asked me if I would be going to IC for my 3:15 appt (it was 3:12), No I will not.
