Dr. Rebecca Sparks

I started going to Dr. Sparks when she was in Derby and followed her to Andover. Not only is she very knowledgeable, her bedside manner with her patients is just the best. She jokes with you and doesn't make you feel like a number. I have never doubted what she has told me and I know that when it comes to my eyesight, she absolutely knows what she's talking about.

I would not recommend going to Dr. Sparks unless you want someone who wants to waste your time. I went in originally for a contact lens fitting, but she literally REFUSED to give me a prescription because of my dry eye. Instead she recommended I use eyedrops and come back in 8-10 weeks. I did not followup in that time. Instead I came back almost a year later for a prescription for contacts because I was running out of contacts. She finally gave me a prescription for contacts at this time, but made the prescription valid for only one more month because that's when I was due for my annual. Perhaps this may have been related to my insurance not allowing for another annual in less than 12 months, but she did not inform me of this ahead of time. Further, I was only allowed to get up to 3 months worth of contacts because of this stipulation of my prescription expiring. Further, she would not authorize for me to get the same prescription in a different brand because the contact fitting was only for x brand. At this point, I decided to cut my losses despite having just spent $75 on a contact fitting for only a 3 month supply. I kept getting calls from them regularly to schedule an appointment. Finally I just blocked the number because I was sick of it. Well a couple months after that, I get texted a bill. I paid all my copays upfront and they charged my insurance so I wasn't sure what exactly they were trying to bill me for months after the fact. I called up the office and apparently during my contact lens fitting they also decided to bill me for "dry eye" checkup because she had to check my eye dryness during the visit. I did not go for a dry eye check up and if it is necessary to check that to proceed with contact lens fitting, that means it is part of a lens fitting and should not require being billed separately for that. I hesitated to write a review, but this was the final straw for me. Dr. Sparks may be competent in her work, but it's not worth seeing her given all the hoops she makes you jump through. I suspect she drags out addressing reason for visit over multiple visits to accrue more copays and be able to bill for frequent visits. She does not care about working with her patients. It's her way or the highway.
