The Doctor was great. She was was helpful and thorough in explaining all the pros and cons of different contact lenses. The prices were also very good. Would highly recommend her

I went into this optometrist months ago, by myself and everything went normal. I got the script for my glasses. But then my glasses broke and I went back in a couple days ago. I just went in to order contacts, first time. Bc i want to stop using glasses bc they break. She had a sign up "be back Monday at 11:30". When I went in she was with someone that was ordering something too, not an appointment. My son and I waited and he was being a good little boy. When it was my time to talk to her I handed him the coloring pages and let him color, he was great. Then she gave me contacts to wear until mine came in. I asked if I could wash my hands and use a mirror, since I'm not a normal contact wearer and new to it. She said yeah and to go in her exam room. I washed my hands and tried to put my contacts in. I was struggling so much. Then I heard her walking towards the room. I said, "im sorry, I'm struggling so much". She said nothing to me and went behind me to scold my son who was quietly sitting in the side chair. I have to admit he was looking at the small metal pointing stick they use. I remember when I was little and they let me help my sister in her exam, pointing at the lines with that kind of pointer. Not something that could really get damaged. She ignored my plead for help, I only had one contact in and I have a high prescription bc my vision is not the best. She said, "you need to get ur stuff and get out of here" "get off that chair NOW!" "YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" GET UR STUFF AND GET OUT" I have never been treated like this ever and if my child would have actually been being destructive then I would have toon our stuff and left. I'm so appalled. She kicked us out, one contact in. When I desperately needed the help of my doctor to get this contact in, since I'm not a normal contact wearer. I was half blind and trying to figure out what just happened and try to find myself to my car and have a contact on my finger. Take what u want from this but just know this is NOT a doctor to bring ur child to and let alone ourself. She obviously does not care for her patients. She could have offered me a mirror to use in the other room or offered to help me bc obviously I wanted and was asking for help. I've never been so venerable and helpless right outside a doctors office.

She wasn't bad but I felt like I was being seen by a Walmart employee. I felt like a number and she really didn't care. I don't know, maybe I caught her on a bad day? We all have those days and I totally understand. But I expected a little more from someone that I trust my eyesight with. Sorry, for the bad review but reviews speak truth and we would all be lost without them.

Dr. Van Becelaere is one of, it not, THE BEST, eye doctors in the KC area! I am extremely near-sighted so I take my eye health seriously. I tend to ask a lot of questions and she is always kind enough to answer my questions in depth. Best around! Highly recommend! Thank you Dr. V!!!
