I am a relatively new patient to this office, as I have been with them for about a year now. During both exams this year and last year I had a wonderful experience! I have poor vision and a difficult astigmatism and the doctor took his time to make sure everything went well for me. He made me feel very comfortable. The ladies at the front desk have always been kind and happy to answer my questions!

I love the team at Leawood Family Eye Care & Optical Boutique. Dr. Kirk is my primary doctor, but I've been seen by Dr. Alan at times, as well. The team cares about their patients, and everyone is friendly, from the front desk to the back office. I never feel like just a patient when I'm there, but like I'm part of a group of caring people. I can't recommend them highly enough. On the optical boutique side, they have the same friendly, welcoming demeanor that makes visits a pleasure. Mark has helped me on many occasions, and I can tell he has a passion for what he does. He's always friendly and incredibly nice. Haley also helped me in the past, and she was incredibly friendly and kind. Again, I can't recommend the team enough. I had an appointment earlier today and was taken care of with the highest level of customer service from start to finish. I was immediately greeted and very quickly taken back for my appointment. Lindsey was incredibly kind and friendly as she got me all set up. The doctor was great - efficient, nice, and helpful with making sure my contacts are still a good fit. Lastly, Jenna was incredibly knowledgeable when I was ready to get my contacts order. My insurance was a little different from what I thought and she took the time to work with me to strategize on the most cost-effective way to order. She (and the entire team) went above and beyond in terms of care - so much so, I felt the need to write a review.

I arrived early, they had researched my insurance and had everything set when I got there. I was 20 min early, so doc was otherwise engaged, they got the simple baseline tests out of the way immediately. I spent the in-between time in the boutique where I was overwhelmed... because shopping/fashion is not my thing. Asked for help. They immediately got ~10 samples together all of which looked pretty damn good. By the time the doc got me, I had my glasses picked. Great appointment with Doc, very personable. All together great sequence of service and execution.

Nice location, Dr Allen and his associates were wonderful. This would have been a 5 star experience until I was taken back by the front desk and billing team at the end of my visit. They explained to me that they did not check my benefits but explained to me I had a copay of $100 due for an eye exam! I instantly knew this information had to be incorrect as I work in medical insurance billing myself and a red flag went up immediately. I felt I was getting worked over so I left eagerly. I called my insurance company immediately and verified it was $25 just to be safe. I called back to report and the billing lady Sondra or Sharon I believe, explained that they tried to charge me 4x the amount because people don't pay their bills, but once they verified they would send me my money back. I was taken back by this approach. Not only is this a violation of several laws demanding higher copays or coinsurance than required by 3rd party insurance contracts, it can be deemed as insurance fraud. It ruined the integrity level of this front office. While the exam with Dr Allen and customer service from his assistants were perfect, this alone situation has left an impression on me and I don't feel comfortable returning knowing this is how they operate, with falsely and knowingly overcharging. Heads up for the elderly and people who don't check their eligibility and benefits. Make sure you know your patient obligations before you go. They still sent me a text for payment for over the amount.

I booked an appointment online for vision test for my daughter. It was confirmed immediately. We were greeted with smiley faces and within couple of minutes we were called for initial tests. My daughter 9 yo was initially very anxious to go even inside the clinic. But everyone made her feel comfortable. Nurse and she chatted about lot of stuff. She joked around and made her at ease. When my daughter wanted to know what are contact lenses, nurse even showed her how to wear them, how to remove them. She was very kind. Our Dr was Dr Kirk. She is fabulous. My daughter loved talking with her. My daughter needed a prescription glasses. And Doctor explained her why she need it, and she tried various lenses to find the perfect lenses. My daughter had a Eureka moment as soon she could read from far away and was very happy. Doctor spent enough amount of time with us and was not in a rush unlike other practices that I experienced. We went to check frames and we were greeted by a very nice lady. I forgot her name but she is awesome. She picked very nice frames and my daughter chose from the pile. They had lenses available same day and we got her glasses within 20 minutes. It was so seamless that I couldn't believe it. I get my glasses usually in 2-3 weeks but here we got them in 20 minutes. My daughter was so happy with her glasses that she called her friends and showed them. We went for a walk in the neighborhood and she could read street signs and house numbers from far away. I am glad that we found the eye care specialist that we liked. I recommend them 100%

My daughter and I have seen Dr. Kirk for 2 years now. We are very happy with everyone at Leawood Family Eye care. My daughter is 8 and everyone made sure she was comfortable during her exam. Dr. Kirk treated her like any patient-talked directly to her, then asked me if an answer wasn't clear. She really listened to her and made sure she didn't feel bad when she couldn't read the line she asked her to. My daughter has a minor astigmatism. Last year, Dr. Kirk let us decide if we want to get glasses or wait it out. It wasn't bothering her much, so we waited. She gave us the option again this year and we decide to get glasses for her. They had a lot of frames to choose from in her size, it took us a while to decide because there were 4 really great pairs. My exam and ordering experience was just as great! I got a nice pair of glasses at a good price and was treated just as well as my daughter. A great place overall, highly recommend this office.

The staff are very friendly, and I experienced zero wait time. My appointment with Doctor Kirk was fantastic. I felt like Doctor Kirk really took the time to listen and understand what I needed, and was so helpful with explaining every option and providing detailed pricing information. I did not feel any pressure to make a purchase, Doctor Kirk seemed focused on solving problems and providing solutions. I will definitely be going here for all future eye exams.
