I was a patient here for like 15 yrs! Dr Good is REALLY good but the rest of the staff are NOT! I think it's nuts that they have a box of free Qurans in the waiting room?! Dr Ansari is def NOT a good roll model for Muslims! He has no bedside manner and as I found is only worried about money, not his patient's vision!! He did my cataracts in 2020 at a surgery center in Lexington. They have now built a surgery center next to the office in Frankfort. Unlike most of my friends, my vision became worse after Ansari put in the new lens. Fast forward to 2024 and I'm in MI taking care of my mother and my vision became very blurry. I went to a local eye doc there and was told the lens was covered in scar tissue and I needed a laser treatment to remove it. Upon arriving for the procedure I was told I had a $400 copay. I told them I didn't have that kind of money at that time and left. The eye Dr, who I had never seen, called me and said he would do the procedure in the office to save me the surgery center copay! He said it literally takes 40 seconds to laser off the scar tissue. I came back to Frankfort last Spring and began having blurry vision again so I go to Dr Ansari and he said I needed the scar tissue removed from the other eye and sent me to the surgery scheduler who asked me for the $400 copay. I told her the MI story and asked if he could just do the laser in his office to save me the copay $$ as I am disabled and on a very limited income. She acted like I punched her in the face!? It's taken months of referrals by my PCP to get into see the AMAZING Dr Lucy Franklin at UK Eye Center but it was SO worth the wait! She did a LOT of testing and found I have NO scar tissue on my lens! I have a retina issue that Dr Ansari missed for 15 yrs!!! He is ALL about the money and could care less about his patient's vision! Also, the staff at UK Eye Center are all extremely knowledgeable and experienced unlike the constantly revolving group of teenagers who work at Frankfort Eye Center! Do not trust your vision to this place!
You may want to read Google reviews before selecting this place. I took the word of a family member. I am originally from Frankfort. I now live almost an hour away in Louisville, Kentucky. I like to keep my money and business locally and with smaller mom and pop businesses. Showed up to my appointment they had me in the system as a different person different birthday. After taking the time to get it sorted out and registering as a new patient there was an insurance issue. Not with my vision insurance, but with my health insurance. They wanted my health insurance. When we got it sorted out then they did not have time to see me after driving an hour away. This place needs a restructure of the way they do things. Surely there's a better process and procedure. All of this information should've been collected upfront and not the day of the visit anyway. Lost half a day of work. $20 in gas to and from to get there. Total day was a waste and a lost of over $300 out of my pocket. Missing work, including gas.
I scheduled an appointment for a routine vision check-up with Frankfort Eye Center East by phone yesterday and was given an appointment for this morning. I arrived five minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time. Upon arrival, I was asked to fill out a paper form requiring my full name, address, phone number, and email address. Despite indicating none of my information had changed since my previous visit, I was required to complete the form again. This process raised concerns regarding the secure handling and disposal of personal identifiable information.
The waiting room was completely full, prompting me to browse the eyeglasses section due to lack of available seating. During this wait, another patient arrived and encountered issues with her insurance not being located by the front desk staff. Staff publicly requested and announced sensitive personal information, including the patient's and her husband's full names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers, in clear hearing range of everyone in the waiting area. Eventually, after not locating her insurance, the patient was turned away, though it was later determined that the issue was a misspelled last name on file.
I waited a total of 35 minutes--30 minutes past my appointment time--without any communication or update from staff regarding the delay. Upon deciding to leave and requesting my appointment be canceled without charge, I was informed that there was a procedure being performed on another patient but that I was next. At no point during my wait was there any proactive communication or acknowledgment of the delay.
To improve service quality and regain my business, I recommend the following actions:
- Implement a secure electronic check-in system to protect patient privacy and reduce redundant data collection.
- Ensure sensitive personal information is verified discretely, away from public hearing.
- Communicate proactively with patients about delays exceeding 10 minutes past the scheduled appointment time.
Edit: The doctor is wonderful at this location, based on my previous visit, which is why this is a 2-star review instead of 1.
I will never be back to this location. Doctor Smith was good. But front office staff need to be revisited. They need work more on Customer service. I'm also not satisfied with my glass and neither the way I been treated just because I'm bringing outside frame . Will look for a better eye doctor office for next year.
The front office staff in frankfort east was good to work with but the quality of the glasses is a HUGE downgrade from when premier family owned it. I have had to take my glasses back and had to travel to Lexington 2 extra times and the glasses are still not working. I was told there are 5 levels of quality so evidently they give you the lowest quality while charging you for the higher quality in hopes to save money. Had to call my vision provider and file a complaint in order to go elsewhere for glasses. They are disputing my claim for a refund so I have to spend time with the credit card company to get my funds back. This is NOT the kind of company you want to do business with as they don't care about your eyesight, just making enough money to pay for the business. I would stay far away from them.
The entire staff here was pleasant to interact with. Dr. Smith was warm, thorough, informative, and wonderful with my child. Kayla, the tech, was friendly and efficient. They all took great care of myself and my family. Would highly recommend!!
This was the best, most thorough eye doctor appointment I have ever been to. Everyone was wonderful. I left feeling happy and confident about the glasses that they helped me to pick out! Overall awesome
Excellent eye service, staff are friendly, helpful, variety of eye glasses to choose. Customer for over 8 yrs
