Gaddie Eye Centers - Oxmoor

My son was a new patient to Gaddie. He was charged a $115 contact lens fitting fee even though he did not purchase contacts. No one verbally mentioned this fee during his visit. The paperwork he signed only stated that I am responsible for anything insurance does not cover, which is standard language and did not clearly explain this specific charge. If you call other eye centers they charge $45 to fit contacts. When I called Gaddie to question the fee, the manager, Patricia, was dismissive and claimed my son was fully aware of what he signed and even said she helped him with the paperwork--which is not true. As a new patient, I feel she took advantage of the situation instead of explaining the policy or trying to resolve the issue. Two days later, Anastasia called and said his insurance did cover the fitting fee and asked for his credit card information again to process the refund. Two weeks later, he still has not received a credit. Ridiculous! This experience is deceptive and unprofessional. Warning to all I would caution new patients to ask about all fees upfront. Pricilla, the manager said my son should have done that to begin with. This lady should not be a manager for a large corporation such as Gaddie. Next we will file a BBB complaint and dispute with the bank. As of today 3/2/26 a credit is posting to my account for the lens fitting fee. Thank you!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Laura Bassett at Gaddie Eye Center. As a patient with type II diabetes, it's extremely important for me to closely monitor my eyesight and stay ahead of any potential changes. Dr. Bassett was thorough, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the specific eye health concerns related to diabetes. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable and informed throughout the entire exam. I never felt rushed, and it was clear that she genuinely cares about her patients' long-term eye health. I truly appreciate her professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail. I feel confident knowing my eye care is in such capable hands, and I highly recommend Dr. Bassett to anyone - especially those managing diabetes or other ongoing health conditions.

Dr. Bassett gave the best experience I've had in an eye doctor to date (I've been to 5 others). She was the first to offer to fix my astigmatism saying it's not necessary but helpful and I can see much better at night driving now. She talked me through everything about my eyes and the cherry on top was she starts at 7 am so I could come in without disrupting my work day too much. They also match pricing so I didn't have to go shopping online for contacts, I could just order them in store. I did this blindly trusting they would get the price match correct and just went back to check vs 1-800 contacts and yes they did match them to their active sale price. Shipping straight to my house. Very satisfied with this company.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gossom's at the Springhurst location for 24 years and he is a lovely and pleasant doctor. In October of 2024 I had an insurance billing issue that required me to pay for my visit out of pocket. My insurance company ended up resolving the issue and issued a refund to Gaddie. I was then supposed to receive the refund the insurance company issued and I have yet to receive it over a year later. I showed proof via screenshots last year that I never received the refund despite Gaddie showing me a receipt that they issued it back to my card. Fast forward to October of 2025 when I come to my next appointment and expect to have money on my account. They inform me that I will need to speak with the office manager at the St. Matthews location about the refund I am due from October 2024. I recall last year having no luck getting in touch with her which is why I gave up on the matter until my visit in October 2025. I was shockingly able to get in touch with her and she told me she would call back in a few days when the matter was resolved. It has since been over four weeks since our initial conversation and I have heard nothing. I have left 4 voicemails at St. Matthews and 1 at Springhurst. I have also emailed Springhurst on the same email chain we were corresponding via in October 2024. I have always enjoyed being Dr. Gossom's patient, but the terrible customer service is what will keep me from returning. It is unacceptable I have not received a refund from over a year ago when I have confirmation and proof that my insurance company issued the refund to Gaddie. It does not matter how many times I call or voicemails I leave, I do not believe I will be receiving a call back or receiving my refund. I am writing this review under the St. Matthews location and not Springhurt because the office manager who handle billing works at this location.

Comfortable and professional. The friendly and professional interactions from making my appointment, to the greeting upon my arrival, to doctor interaction, it was a great experience. Even the insurance verification and payment was done well. No surprises. All pros. Highly recommend.

Dr.Laura Bassett is very thorough. She makes you feel very comfortable and takes time to explain everything. I would recommend her to everyone I know. I would also like to give a shout out to Brittany G. She was a big help when selecting my glasses.

I had my eye exam here about two weeks ago. The exam itself went fine, and I appreciated their help sorting out some insurance questions since we had recently switched plans. However, I've called at least five times trying to get pricing for a one-year supply of my contacts or simply a copy of the prescription I already paid for, and I still haven't received a response. Unfortunately, I had a similar experience last year -- it seems their customer service and follow-up could really use some improvement.

2yr old & 4yr old, staff was very kind, patient & understanding. They were also quite quick & efficient. The pediatric eye Dr was great to work with, very kind & super good with the kiddos to avoid as much stress on them as possible.
