Honestly, this would've been a one star if the doctor hadn't been polite enough. She was pretty nice.
The receptionists at the front didn't seem very helpful or nice, even when I tried to lighten the mood or be nice.
They seem to just want you in and out, very rushful. The whole time they were hurrying us through almost everything, even when picking out glasses. (You know the things your going to be seeing on your face everyday)
I haven't ever left a bad review before, and usually don't bother with reviews anyway but this was ridiculous. Very unwelcoming.
Was my first time coming, and definitely my LAST time too.
UPDATEd REVIEw:
I am adding a 2nd review here, and changed my rating from one star , to 4 stars , because my 2nd visit was much much better than my 1st one!.
I was very discouraged after my 1st appointment weeks before, because it was so unimpressive! And I really didn't have much expectations on my 2nd visit. But, they put me in with a different optometrist, and surprisingly, he was very great with me!
He did the eye test, took more photos, tests, and scans of my eyes, he had me to read letters from the wall and tried different lenses to see which one I could see through the best. He was very polite, and thorough too. And that was exactly what I needed!
I received my glasses, and much to my amazement, they were just perfect for me!!
I hadn't been to an eye doctor in more than 20 years, until I started going here, and I am so thankful that I decided to go back!!
For me, it was certainly worth it, to give this place a 2nd chance!!..
(Below was my 1st review)..
This was mine and my boyfriend's first visit here.
It was actually my first visit to an eye doctor in more than 20 years!.
They were very overcrowded when we got there, and our visit took nearly 3 hours. Most of our time was spent sitting and waiting to go back.
After my boyfriend filled out all the info they needed, they said his insurance wouldn't cover his visit, or glasses either. Idk why they didn't tell him that when we first called to set up the appointments, two weeks prior to our visit. But that wasn't the biggest issue we had with them..
When my name was finally called to go back, I felt like I was being rushed, and didn't receive a thorough exam.
All they did was take some pictures of my eyes. That's it!.
The doctor didn't even have me to read letters from the wall, and she didn't dilate my pupils, or even give me an eye exam.
She did go over the pictures with me though, and said she saw what looked like a small hemmhorage in one of my eyes. After talking to me a few minutes, she had one of the other ladies take me back out front, and had me to look through a lens that I could not clearly see through, she said those lenses would be for my distance, for everyday use.
I told the lady that everything looked really weird in them and that maybe it's because I wasn't used to them. I thought I would be given other options to try, other lenses to look through, but I was not given any other options at all.
She then had me to look through another lens that she said would be for my bifocals.
And I do have to say, I was impressed by how well I could see through the bifocals! I had no complaint, or issue with those at all. And also, there was something else I was impressed by, it was easy to see that every person there was very kind and friendly, more so, than what you usually see, and I really loved that about them!
But it doesn't change the fact that I just couldn't recommend them to anyone at this point.
I wasn't even given a follow up appointment!
They said my glasses would be ready within 14 business days, and sent me on my way..
I have family that goes to them, and one family member told me that her nor anyone else in her family has ever had anything like this happen to them. They have been going to Nordin for many years! She said at every visit they dilated their eyes, every visit they did eye exams, and was always very thorough.
She also said, this was not right or fair that I didn't receive the same treatment!..
I have given a very honest review here. If anything changes, I will change my review.
I know it's long, and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

I was nothing but disappointed in this office. The professionalism was lacking. My family and I were recommended and I will not do the same. They rush you through the two steps of the eye exam, push you to make a choice in glasses. If they are to small they stretch them out by hand and give them to you, which results in going back the way they were. If you don't want the contacts they don't want to sell you, they tell you they are ordering them for over 2 months and act surprised your upset that you want the 40$ back because they still haven't fulfilled the request. I have had to go back 3 times to get the proper scripts. I'm still waiting for my refund in the mail.
Doctor Kimberly Nordin and her staff (Jerri & Holly) went above and beyond) to first, prescribe me the best prescription for everyday wear and for just lenses for my long hours on the computer.
However, what is extraordinary and incredibly rare in our current "Rush Patient Culture" where so many doctors seemed to have stopped caring about the patients and only care about profits. Doctor Kimberly Nordin was so concerned about my eyesight, she had me come back in for not one, but two follow up scans and with those assessments made a referral to send me on to a specialist to help with my symptoms and preserve the sight in my dominant eye.
I am someone with no name in this county. No wealth. Nor was I private pay. I am a man who came to her very scared and she and her staff were and have continued to be amazingly compassionate to me.
I couldn't give a zero, unfortunately. I had my visit, ordered my frames and was measured for the lenses. Exactly one week later I received a text my glasses were in. I went to the office that sent me the text only to find out they were at another location. So, I left work early to drive there to get them. They weren't only the wrong frames, they had a prescription for one of my eyes that was years old for that lens! At that point I wanted to just get my prescription and go elsewhere, but my wife talked me into giving them a chance to make things right. So, against my better judgement, I did. They ordered what I assume was the right frames and got the current prescription for the lens (I assume). And told me they would put a "rush" on them. So, I waited.....and waited.....and waited. Nearly three weeks passed, and I get a text, my frames are in and to come get measured for the lenses. Not my glasses are finally finished. To come get measured, WHEN THEY ALREADY HAD THE MEASUREMENTS FROM MY VISIT WHEN I ORDERED THEM! There is literally no excuse they can give or reason or explanation why it has been three days shy of a month since I had my appt. and ordered my glasses that I STILL do not have new glasses. I had an appt. and ordered new glasses BECAUSE I NEED THEM. Now.....not when they decide they want to do their job right. I have asked for my prescription and refund; if I do not receive either I will be pursuing the matter further, and also will be filing with the BBB if it isn't made right.
Been to both paintsville and prestonsburg office seen both doctors husband/wife. They were kind but didn't seem to care much. Got my prescription wrong, I ask for help about special contacts due to eye issues and was told nothing they could do not even a referral to a specialist absolutely nothing. Also staff at paintsville office rude and very unprofessional. Cash paying customers are treated better. Do not go to either location.
My glasses broke an I needed a new set well I went in an they ordered me a set an it's been over 3 months an I still haven't got them, they wouldn't even pick up the phones over there an they blame us for everything, never will I ever go back! I wouldn't even put one start but I had to, to be able to write this.
Horrible. They messed up our whole families prescription. And then blamed me when the coating on my lenses started peeling.Worst optometrist I ever have had.I don't know anything about the one in Paintsville.
