Absolutely HORRIBLE experience!! I've had glasses since I was in 2nd grade and contacts since middle school. I am very familiar with the annual check up and routine. The only way I was able to make an appt was to walk into the office bc I can never get through on their phone line. The tech who "assisted" me and I quote that because it was more like scolding. I did not want my eyes dilated bc I had to drive my kids directly after the appt, then I was scolded for using pataday for dry eyes and allergies. The Dr came in who was an older male I have never met. Didn't Introduce himself. Told me I was suppose to be in Toric lenses which I have never had before so no I was not wearing them nor was I previously advised too! I was scolded for that- then bc I Ordered a pair of contacts from a website! Anyone that has glasses and contacts know insurance only covers one of those per year! Not only did I leave with the wrong prescription they also gave me the wrong strength of trial lenses. Then charged me $70 for the contact fitting fee - for which I received the Wrong strength. Another fee on top of that bc they put me in to rid lenses, and then my copay. I ended up having to pay $150- and no it was not bc of my insurance. I understand things change when you are bought out- but don't treat people like they are beneath you. Part of your job as a medical facility is to teach and help your patients, not scold or belittle!

We took our child here when a pediatrician suggested she get screened for vision processing. The exam answered so many questions that we as parents had been asking in vain. Our child went through several months of vision therapy. It was expensive. It did take time from work, but today, our child likes reading. She reads on her own, where before she would fight us to read a couple pages. She is playing softball when prior to therapy, a ball would hit her in the face. I even notice her left and right orientation is better. If you have a child struggling with hand-eye coordination, or reading, have them checked out. It made all the difference with our kiddo. The peace of mind is well worth the expense and time devoted to it.

I got referred to Family Eyecare Associates a few years ago by my Optometrist and had a decent enough experience. They gave me a prescription and I got new glasses - no biggie. Fast forward two years to just a few days ago and I call to get my medical records since my Optometrist closed her practice and I need to go find a new one. The person who answered the phone refused to give me my records, just flat said no. He said "It had been over a year since my appointment so I wasn't eligible to receive my records." I don't care if it's been 20 years. Those are my records and I am entitled to them. This is completely illegal and a HIPAA violation as patients are not allowed to be denied access to their medical records at all and I've had to file a complaint to the HHS to receive them. Incredibly frustrating.

I had an appointment today for 11:20 am. When I got there I was told to go back to my car and they would come get me. No problem. Forty minutes later I called them and said that it could be another 15 minutes or so. I waited another 10 minutes and then left. There is no excuse for making a patient wait 50 minutes in the parking lot. We have had this Covid thing around long enough for them to figure out the scheduling. If they knew that they were running that for behind, they should have called me before I came and asked if I wanted to come in late or re-schedule. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

My 4 and a half year old nephew had his first eye doctor appointment today. It's a big deal for him, as he has been diagnosed with Autism and new situations are sometimes stressful and intense for him already. Whoever the Optometrist is who is "filling in" for someone this week created an absolutely terrible and terrifying experience for him - grabbing his face and attempting to shine the light in his eyes, and telling him that he was "making things worse" for the both of them. What was "making things worse" was this horrible and careless doctor, who was attempting to force a 4 year old child (who was visibly uncomfortable and struggling) to have a bright light shined into their eyes. I understand that working in the medical field is stressful and everyone has bad days, including doctors, but this is absolutely appalling behavior. I have never left a public review before, but I wanted to make it known that today this place fell spectacularly short for a little boy who struggles with new situations and still tries his hardest. On behalf of my 4 year old nephew, and my sister who was doing her best to keep her son comfortable - thank you to the front desk staff who tried their best to alleviate this disgusting experience.

Very bad. Not friendly and not helpful. I called to schedule my daughter for her preschool eye exam and I got hold for more than an hour and it hang up. I called again and same thing happen. Thanks to Kentucky Eye Institutes for helping that day.

I came into Versailles because of a death in the family from northern Ohio. My glasses broke in three pieces. They said they would try and fix them for me that same day. Not only did they fix them before the end of the but did not charge me anything!! They were so kind!!

We were told about eye therapy from a talk Dr. Graebe gave at a local school and thought our son might benefit from an assessment. We were surprised by how the process unfolded, especially a diagnosis of multiple eye conditions and the suggestion that he undergo months of eye therapy at a cost of over $3000 (also, a prescription for glasses that we later learned from an ophthalmologist actually made it harder for him to see). The diagnosis of eye conditions was given to us over the phone by an office manager, who couldn't answer basic questions we had--and given that each appointment costs hundreds of dollars, I was surprised to have not had more interaction with the optometrist. And since I was present for my son's assessment, it seemed a red flag that he was diagnosed as being in the bottom 3% when it came to activities like simply reading letters from a list (which he did at a speed that seemed completely normal as I sat next to him in the assessment). We got a second opinion from an ophthalmologist, and I understand that the training and backgrounds are very different for these two kinds of practices, but there was no trace of the conditions that my son was diagnosed with in this second eye exam. If there had been, though, the doctor told us there are much more affordable ways (e.g. $40 computer programs) for some of these to be fixed. Without any scientific evidence to support the efficacy of a therapy program that costs thousands of dollars, and without a valid second opinion that such a therapy program was even necessary, and given the enormous cost that isn't covered by insurance, it's concerning to know so many families can be convinced to take such measures for their children. My son's reading has completely turned a corner with some extra reading support at his school since last fall when he was "diagnosed." I'd read anecdotal stories from parents about how vision therapy turned things around for kids struggling to read, and I wondered if it was just a coincidence of timing since many kids turn a corner between first and second grade on their own or with help at school ... given our experience I definitely feel like the diagnosis my son received wasn't a legitimate one and wouldn't be surprised if any child coming in would receive something very similar. I've never written such a detailed or negative review before, but this seemed so questionable and predatory to me--and there is no other recourse given that there isn't any meaningful regulation of this kind of practice--but I hope it's helpful for families experiencing something similar to have this kind of context to inform their decision.
