Had an appointment last week. I was so pleasantly surprised. The office was cozy and homey. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Even coffee in the waiting room! I hardly had to wait anytime at all! Everyone was so efficient and the doctors were so warm! October 17th I have one thing to add. As pleasant and comfortable an office that it is, know this and actually, this advice would apply to any doctor 's office! Before your exam, make very well sure, that the personnel, completely understands, the insurance company you have and what it covers, BEFORE going into that exam room!! If you don't, you may well have to pay for your service, as I did yesterday, because I wasn't asked the proper questions, even though I did stipulate the type of plan I had, prior to the exam! Yes, my care was great and thorough, no complaints there but because of office issues, I had to pay, after the fact.

My husband had his first cataract surgery here yesterday. Not overly impressed. Preoperative information was not particularly thorough...things came up that were acceptable but would have been much better to simply be informed ahead of time. The chairs in the surgery waiting room are HORRIBLY uncomfortable. I was required to remain in the waiting room for the entire 2-1/2-plus hours. I mentioned the chairs to a staff member and she acknowledged they are aware of this, that the chairs are the original chairs 25+ years of age! I will be sure and bring a bed pillow with me for the next surgery--if he decides to have it done here, not my first choice--in an attempt to find some relief. Today, he went back for his followup "appointment," which was really an appointment because he wasn't seen until 2 hours past the time he was instructed to return...they should call them "very loose time suggestions" instead of appointments. I do understand running behind, but NOT ONE person acknowledged this or made any attempt to portray that "we know your time is just as valuable as ours, we are very sorry for the wait." Just that simple courtesy would have made a big difference. Time will tell if the surgical procedure itself has a good outcome. Not impressed.

I've been to this office a couple of times for routine checkups and never had a problem. Then, one Friday morning I woke up with my eye extrememly red & irritated. I called as soon as they opened that morning and said I needed to come in because something was wrong with my eye. It was burning so bad that I couldn't even open it at all. I mean, you know what it's like when something's in your eye. It totally takes over everything. The lady told me they were leaving at noon that day and were completely booked and could not see me until maybe Monday sometime. I asked her to please try to get me in today somehow as this was a Friday and I didn't want to suffer with this all weekend. She put me on hold and went and checked again. When she came back she told me once again that they could not see me and I'd have to come on Monday. I begged to please squeeze me in somehow, please, because I was in pain and knew this was going to get worse over the weekend. She again told me she was sorry and just couldn't make it happen. I was so mad I think I hung up. I called Louisian Eye and Laser Center and explained to them my situation and they immediately got me in. Turned out I had somehow scratched my cornea during my sleep and just needed some ointment & antibiotic drops. By the end of the day my eye was much better. No thanks to Wallace Eye Associates who refused to help even after I begged. I understand you're busy and booked up but to tell a patient No and leave them in pain all weekend is something I can't understand. I will be going to Louisian Eye and Laser Center from now on and I tell this story every time I get a chance.

I recently had Lasik at the Wallace Eye Associates facility, and could not be more pleased. The staff was all friendly, they were very thorough and always open to any questions. They even called the evening after my procedure to check on me. For the first time in my life, I can say I have perfect vision just 24 hours post op. Thank you so much, Tori, Dr Carney and Dr Irshad. You are all amazing! :)

Have used Wallace for a number of years for routine eye check-ups. Much of the staff has been there a while which is a sign of a healthy business culture. The doctors are competent and take their time to give you layman's explanations of what is happening with your eyesight and realistic expectations. Overall great group of folks.

Make sure you check insurance and ask about all the extra fees before going to an appt. I Was told they would order trial contacts instead they ordered the contacts itself, which my 12 year old has never worn contacts, with more cost to pick them up and don't even know if she can wear them, I've paid more for contacts than I ever have just keep adding on more and more fees. Seems like they won't $100+ just to walk in the door, and I will never be back once this is done with! I should've done more research and asked more questions before going, lessons learned but you've been warned! A very unhappy parent!

Good thing Drs Wallace and Crotty are the best, they are substantially offset by support staff. Rude,arrogant,incompetent, inconsiderate are their best points. Repeated failure to renew prescriptions, threaten to not renew prescriptions if appts missed......guess the Hippocratic Oath "first do no harm" doesn't, Apply to clerical help. Thankfully does with Drs.
