I love the Doc here and the rest of the staff. What we encountered today with a receptionist if very off putting! She's an older white lady and was very rude, condescending no manners. My son had an appointment for 4:15, got there, and was rudely told by this person we're short staffed today, I don't know if he's gonna be even be seen. So, why not call your customers to reschedule if that's the case? Thankfully the staff that did the contact lens class was nice and patient, same with Doctor Nguyen. Just nice and professional. If management or the store owner sees this review, please educate that receptionist today on some kindness and nice manners, and not act like we're inconvenience for her. Short staff or not, that's not for the customers to suffer bad reception!!!
I went in yesterday with my mom, and what happened was disappointing and unacceptable. One of the employees assumed we did not speak English simply because she heard us speaking Spanish. Instead of asking or giving us a moment to respond, her coworker went to get someone to "translate" for us.
The employee who was actually helping us was kind, patient, and professional the entire time. She corrected her coworker and let her know that we do speak English. To that employee, thank you so much. You handled the situation with respect, and you deserve a raise for the way you treated us.
As for the coworker who assumed we did not speak English, there are no words to describe how inappropriate her behavior was. She never apologized, never acknowledged what she did, and continued avoiding us even after being corrected. What she did was racist, discriminatory, and completely unprofessional.
My mom and I are fully bilingual. Being judged and stereotyped because we were speaking Spanish is something no customer should ever have to deal with. It left us shocked, especially because we have been America's Best customers for years. We have trusted this company for so long, and to be treated like that was extremely disappointing.
America's Best needs much stronger training. Employees should understand that speaking Spanish does not mean someone cannot speak English. Cultural awareness, respect, and proper customer service training are needed so situations like this never happen again.
Because of this experience, the racism, the discrimination, and the lack of an apology from the employee involved.
Every time I come here it's a great experience, all the staff is amazing but Hannah is awesome and very very sweet and helpful. her service is always above and beyond
Big shout out to America's best in Marrero ! I had lost my contact and need a contact today and they fit me in for an eye appointment and got me contacts that same day. Receptionist and doctor were very nice and helpful and even fix the old pair of glasses that I had on awesome service and will definitely be back!
I have been coming here for years and always have exceptional service. I had an appointment yesterday and left there very pleased which led me to write a review. Every person that works there who I come in contact with is so pleasant and I wanted that to be recognized.
I made a purchase in the amount of 607.00 cash for two pairs of glasses. I went to pick up my glasses and had a problem with the frame on Dec 6. I requested a refund. Today is Dec 23rd still haven't received my refund. I called the store about my refund and was placed on hold for 20 minutes. I had my husband called while I was still on hold in order to speak to someone. I called the customer care number and her solution was to stop payment on the check . Now I have 7-10 more days added delay.
I've been coming here for years with my daughter since she was young. The person we always go to is Joyce, she's always so helpful, nice, and professional to work with. She always makes sure you understand what you are getting and are happy with it. We always have a smooth experience with her. My daughter's doctor is Dr. Fertel and she always has the best experience. If you go with those two you won't be sorry.
Had an appointment scheduled for 1:30 this afternoon at the Barataria location and gave myself plenty of time to get there but unfortunately arrived 6 minutes late due to some construction. When I got there, I apologized for being late and was immediately told the doctor was going to lunch since I did not fill out some online paperwork and can I come back almost 2 hours later?
This experience combined with the fact they got my prescription wrong last year made me not want to come back.
I went across the street to Stanton Optical where they are running the same deal, with a better selection of glasses and it was really easy to schedule an appointment with the friendly lady at the desk.
