I took my 4-year-old to get her eye checked for the first time and had no idea what to expect or how she'd do. I was completely blown away by Dr. Avallone! He was so friendly, fun, made silly jokes, and kept my daughter entertained without her even knowing he was doing an evaluation! He used music, video clips, toys, and so many other techniques to do all the tests and we got everything we needed! 100% recommend! Thank you for a wonderful first experience!

Very disappointing experience: My entire (long) life, I've had an opthamologist who also gave me a prescription for glasses and contacts. Mine recently retired, and in attempting to find a new one, I carefully asked each new place I called whether I could get a full opthamological exam as well as leave the appt with a new prescription, if one were called for. The folks who answered the phone here said yes. Ok great. So I show up, wait a half hour past my appt time to be seen, get funneled into three different offices for this that and the other like being part of a herd of cattle. It was annoying, and I didn't appreciate the response of "Well, I'd explain it to you but you wouldn't understand (true story - verbatim)" to a question I asked, (I wanted to respond "try me; I'm a doctor), but one of the many stops (each with a wait) was the whole "can you see this" eye chart exercise. So it seemed promising, and I didn't want to rock th boat. Why would they do the "is this better or is that better?" exercise if they don't give you the prescription, right? Well, you guessed it: at the end of the 1.5 hours I invested in this place, the doctor says "Oh no we don't do that at this visit. You have to come back and meet with the optomostrist for that.". Sure, for another fee. No small mom and pop places left I guess. Maybe the full service opthamologist model no longer exists, but then I'll at least opt for a place that deigns to answer questions and doesn't waste my time.

My retina specialist referred me to Dr. Avallone because of complications I've experienced following retina detachment that lead to strabismus. I have been treated with the upmost care and respect by the whole team.

My elderly parents in Annapolis have received excellent care here. What raises the care further is the staff. They are so kind and efficient. Many have been there for more than a decade. So grateful for this practice.

The office was clean, organized, and very kid-friendly, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. It's clear this team goes above and beyond for their patients. Look no further for your children's eyecare than Ophthalmology & assoc. The crew made our 3yr old son's visit so fun and special, he told us in the car after he wanted to go back tomorrow! Now what kid says that about a doctor's office? Seriously though, Dr. Avalon is truly great. So caring, kind, informative, and genuinely interested in his patients' care and well being. He performed a surgical procedure on our son, then 18 months old, and did so with such care. He could sense how worried we were and gave us his personal cell to call him if anything were to happen overnight. Now that's next level!

Dr. Avalon is amazing!! I went to him for a second opinion after my son was completely dismissed at a different facility. I'm beyond thankful I did because he diagnosed my son at the first appointment and if we would have taken the first doctor's word then my son's condition would have only gotten worse. I can't explain how thankful we are for Dr. Avalon and this facility.
