I went to this place a year years back for an eye examine. Now, before I went, I called to make sure they took my insurance, which they said they did. So i scheduled an appointment and when the appointment time came, the doctor was great. Their frames were expensive so I decided I would just order them online. After I saw the doctor and he gave me my prescription, I asked him for my PD and he informed me that the lady by the glasses would give it to me. So I saw the lady, she told me about my prescription and all that good stuff and asked me if I wanted to purchase frames, I said no and asked her if she could give me my PD. She told me no, and that was confidential. Why was it confidential if it was mine? I have the slightest idea. So I checked out with the from people and I left. So I took my chances and ordered my frames online without knowing what my pd. Fast forward to last year, when I get to get an examine from somewhere else, they already had the pd on the sheet with my prescription and also, turns out the prescription I was given was INCORRECT!! And I just learned that they have to give you your pd when you ask for it. Anyways, now they keep sending me bills in the mail... after they said they took my insurance and that the exam was covered!
Dr. Cohen has been great. I've been seeing her for a few years now. The staff is hit or miss sometimes. Not all, just some. My last appointment over 3 weeks ago I had to get new glasses. Usually it takes 2 weeks. I called a lil over the two week mark to check to see if they were ready. I was told they haven't come back yet and they would call me. Ok. No problem. I'm thinking that they will be back at the end of that week. No call. So I call back to check and I was told they were not there but they were going to check with the company that fills the prescription and call me back that day to let me know what they found out. No call. Sooo...I call back the next day, and the woman apologized for not calling me back and had me to hold on while she checked. Well... I was then told that the place that has my order messed it up somehow and they have to start over, (which actually sounds like they NEVER started, but hey! What do I know? ) and now I have to wait an additional week in a half before I can get my glasses. I understand how sometimes things can go wrong, but what is unacceptable is no communication on their end. If I was kept in the loop, especially since I have been calling, I would have accepted this mistake a bit better. Glasses aren't cheap and when one is paying for a service, it should be a fair and more thorough and considerate. Just try missing an appointment and they are QUICK to charge you which they have the right to do. So when a customer is actually PAYING you, be respectful enough to keep them in the loop.
Candace at the front desk should find another job if she does not like people asking her questions. The Black eye doctor seemed very frustrated with me but was trying to hold it in. But I could feel the irritation. Then she told me if I have astigmatism then I've had it my whole life since I was wearing glasses as a child but they didn't put the medication in my glasses as a child because it would be too strong. Which is false because I didn't have astigmatism as a child I developed it as I got older. She looked as if that couldn't happen. Which I know it can because it happened to me. It was just all around a weird experience the workers didn't seem comfortable, everyone seemed to be there to get a check until they could find somewhere else to work
Super nice front staff in ophthalmologist is bubbly and friendly and very helpful recommend this if you need any kind of eye care or cataract surgery they did mine and we're very helpful and thoughtful
Once my husband accidentally got something in his eye, and we visited this office based on a recommendation. They did an excellent job--he was fine afterward. We also went back for a routine eye checkup, and it was a great experience. The staff took their time and conducted a thorough examination. Highly recommended.
I have been a patient of Dr. Cohens for over 20 years. She is attentive, thorough and kind. She recently discovered an issue with my eyes and handled it promptly and efficiently. She was on top of things and did an amazing job treating me! I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Cohen.
The Best.
What can I say, Dr. Cohen is THE BEST ON THE ENTIRE EAST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES!!!! I've been a patient since forever...but Dr. Cohen and I have such a close bond, we're like family. I don't trust anyone else with my eyes...in fact, her dad used to be my dr when I was a child. Google only allows for five stars; but I'd definitely give this practice 10 STARS. Don't delay, if you're searching for an incredibly amazing dr and/or practice to care for your eyes, then Barenburg Eye Associates is definitely the place to be. The entire staff is amazing, caring, compassionate, kind, and puts the patient first. This office is a team of SUPER HEROS.
Go here. Just only go here. Don't go anywhere else. Extremely kind drs and staff. With the help of an after hours call to Dr. Mark Gordon in a panic about some eye disturbances, I got in first thing the next morning, was seen immediately and treated with the upmost kindness and respect. Unfortunately, in this day and age, that is rarely my experience with medical professionals. But I could not be more pleased with this practice and the incredibly kind reassurances of Dr. Gordon on the phone and Dr. Loeb who did my exam. The front desk staff and Brian who assisted were terrific also.
