Getting an urgent appointment was easy. The staff was very courteous and explained the process fully. Dr. Fisher was amazing. I have been seeing Dr. Mayer annually for the past 4 years and he is excellent too. An excellent practice.

I had a routine annual eye exam with Dr Fischer. It was thorough and reassurable. It was my first visit to the practice. Their offices are new and beautiful. I will now continue my eye care with Eye Doctors of Washington. I was very pleased!

Dr. Shah is an excellent eye doctor. My vision is near perfect. She performed successful cataract surgeries. She made me feel very confident about undergoing surgery. The support staff is friendly and attentive. I will return for my routine eye exams.

I had lasik done here, with mixed results. With lasik, you are trading one known disability (bad eyesight) for some unknown disabilities, so you need to consider carefully whether that is worth it. You might have these new disabilities for a year or more -- and perhaps forever. In my case, I have had halos, blurred vision due to dry eyes, and very poor vision in low light ("low contrast") for over a year. These issues interfered with my daily work and interactions--and still do sometimes. Some of these issues will probably never go away. This medical practice will highlight these downsides beforehand, but only after you are psychologically committed to surgery and not as clearly as you need to consider them. You might not appreciate, for example, that "dry eyes" does not just mean scratchy eyes -- it could mean that your vision is terrible even if your eyes are "corrected" to 20/20, as mine were (the surgeon is clearly capable). You should also not expect to get A+ treatment if you have post-surgery issues. The optometrists in this practice are very nice, but their main goal post-surgery is to convince you that it was a good decision to get surgery. In my repeated post-surgery visits, I got very little practical advice for my issues, except to keep using eye drops. ChatGPT was honestly more helpful in suggesting remedies. After a year, the practice will tell you that you used up your free visits and are on your own.

Five years ago, I was referred to this practice for cataract removal. My experience then was successful and extremely positive. I did not hesitate to go to Eye Doctors of Washington again for a second procedure to address a new issue. The staff remains supportive, knowledgeable, and very professional. My current doctor impressed me immediately. Her reputation as a skillful surgeon is clearly well-earned. I look forward to being under her care.

We recently saw Doctor Andrew Kolker in the 19th St. DC office and was very pleased with his eye exam and how he thoroughly explained everything. He is a very knowledgeable and personable doctor. He genuinely cares about his patient. His support/office staff have been very good to work with as well. I had requested his office submit my vision exam results directly to MVA for the DL renewal and his office got back to me within a day and confirmed it's all been taken care of.....that kind of follow-up and attention to detail is rare these days!

Dr Kim seems skilled and is excellent at explaining medical condition. I like his 'bedside' manner. He has a policy of not refracting eyes in the first appointment which was a first experience for me in needing to return to do this. I wish that had been fully explained when making an appointment. It is not the friendliest office when you come in, but most staff are pleasant. My technician had a badgering technique of taking medical history. Not a technique I have experienced in my past. She claimed she was trained in this way. When asked when was my last ophthalmology exam I told her it was the date in the medical records I had sent in advance of my appointment. She then continued to ask for the specific date and I again said it was in my medical record that I had sent but I did not know the specific date. She then asked well was it on Dec 2nd, 2025 and my response again was I do not know the specific date I was last seen by an ophthalmologist but Dec 2, 2025 was the date of faxing the medical records (which literally were on the screen in front on her), She then refused to complete that part of the exam or have someone else do so. I will return as I think Dr Kim is a good doctor. I want to complete my medical exams which he requires two visits and to determine if I want to continue with this practice . I give Dr Kim a 5 star. The general office is a 4. The technician is a 3.

I was referred to this practice by my optometrist for lasik and everyone I interacted with for the various appointments was amazing, especially Kierra the patient coordinator who helped me navigate the challenging logistics due to a huge snowstorm the week of my surgery. Dr. Brigitte Keener was thorough and answered all my questions during the pre-op exam, and the surgeon Dr. Thomas Clinch really helped calm my nerves during the procedure.
