To Whom It May Concern,
On or about November 2024, I purchased prescription lenses from the Walmart Vision Center located in Cockeysville, Maryland. I have been a loyal customer for years and have consistently received quality service and products--until now.
Recently, I began noticing smudging on my lenses when cleaning them. As someone who wears glasses daily, I recognize that this is unusual. I also observed visible numbers etched onto the lenses, which I've never encountered in previous prescriptions. Concerned, I returned to the Vision Center to address the issue.
Unfortunately, the response I received was not only unhelpful but also dismissive. I was told I should have purchased a warranty--something I've never been advised to do in the past nor ever needed. Additionally, I was informed that I would have to "start over," which was both disheartening and frustrating. When I inquired about the markings on the lenses, the staff member told me the numbers were "common" and offered no further explanation. Her demeanor and unwillingness to engage with empathy were disappointing.
As a long-standing customer who has never had a previous issue, I expected a more thoughtful response--one grounded in professionalism, concern, and a willingness to explore a solution. In retail, especially in areas involving healthcare and vision, customer loyalty should be met with gratitude and compassion. Dismissing a legitimate concern undermines not only trust but the relationship that has been built over time.
Thankfully, I have another pair of glasses, but I will not be returning to this location--or any Walmart Vision Center--for future purchases.
****Be aware they don't do eye exams****
Jeremiah and Jackie very helpful. Both adjusted glasses I had purchased elsewhere, that were constantly slipping down. Bought glasses elsewhere, two pair that I ended up not really liking, one progressive and one single vision, for 745.00 Brought prescription here, and got pair of single vision lenses, that I like much better, for only 74. I subtracted one star because the only form they had for me to fill out, for in office review, was in Spanish. I speak Spanish, but
Stopped in to order a pair of single lens eyeglasses. Picked out a $28 frames. I was surprised when I was told that the total cost for the glasses was to be $143. On their website, they advertised bi-focals for $140 and $60 for single focal lenses. When I went in to pick them up, the guy handed me the glasses. I asked whether they test the lenses for accuracy. He said they have no way of testing them. He then said for me to look out into the store and determine whether I could see at a distance. When I asked whether they had any other way of testing the lenses for accuracy, he just turned to the clerk sitting next to him and gave a sarcastic laugh. I told them I didn't appreciate being laughed at. He then handed me the glasses and a cleaning cloth without saying a word. If you don't mind paying more than the posted cost, and you don't mind the clerk snickering at you, this is the store for you.
There is one single person at this location that knows anything.
Every time I call I am put on hold AT LEAST 10 times while people run around collecting answers to very basic questions. I have never placed an order for contacts via phone in under 20 minutes. It's absurd.
There is usually only one person working the floor. I waited 15 minutes to pick up contacts. I saw people in the back, no one came out to lend a hand or to keep customers moving.
Hire more staff, train them well, lend a hand, improve customer service.
I had an eye exam scheduled with a reputable eye dr in Timonium Md. When I arrived for my appointment I was informed that they made a mistake and wouldn't accept my insurance. Frustrated I called the Cockeysville Walmart vision center to see if they accepted it. Not only did the lady say that they accept my insurance, but she told me to come right in and they would see me immediately. Being that I took off work, it was amazing that they were willing to see me on such short notice. When I arrived I was immediately greeted. The appointment went smoothly and the dr was amazing. She was thorough and helpful. The ladies in the front were extremely friendly and helpful. I picked out a pair of frames in no time with their wonderful customer service. I will continue to go to this vision center from now on. I can not commend the ladies at the Cockeysville Walmart enough. They are darling!!!
Would recommend this vision center to everyone. I stopped seeing my regular optometrist to come here full time. It's been about 4 years and I couldn't be happier. They are always accommodating and as quick as can be. I've came in for eye exams and have been in and out in 20 minutes paid and out the door. Love it here it is the only reason I ever go into a Wal-Mart.
Went into customer service to pay a walmart/sam bill one work came in with a family she knew holding up other customers to be served. The cashier called that customer but kept talking with person she knew and not doing her job. Worker that was waiting on customer was excellent
Well first off the manager of the Vision Care seen me in the store, walked past me time after time. After I asked her was she ever going to acknowledge me she said she was short staffed! No excuse! She will see me again and she won't like it!
