I went into this MyEyeDr. on a whim one day, on account of having the same scratched up eye glasses I could barley see out of anymore for over 5 years. I wasn't expecting much out of the visit just wanted to check the place out really and if things went well maybe I could leave with a new pair of glasses.
It turns out my experience at this MyEyeDr. went above and beyond what I had expected. I was immediately greeted by a staff member who was extremely helpful. They informed me I should have an eye exam done since it had been 5 years since my last one and my glasses seemed to be failing me.
They promptly got me an eye exam set up and the optometrist was wonderful. It turns out I needed a new prescription for my eye glasses desperately, I had no idea it was that bad!
Then I went on to look at the wide variety of frames/custom frames they had avaliable. The staff helped me find a pair that suits me really well and I could pick them up in a couple days. Not a long wait at all.
They took my insurance, so this was extremely affordable which is a huge plus! Everyone at this MyEyeDr. Location made this experience so pleasant and sooo easy! The staff is respectful, knowledgeable and very helpful and that goes a longgggg way!
It goes without saying I LOVE my new glasses! They are so cute and I can see a whole lot clearer now too haha!
Thank you MyEyeDr. in Columbia you guys are the best! You have certainly earned a new loyal customer
Had a wonderful experience at the Dobbin Road location! All of the staff was kind, friendly, helpful and professional. The doctor was thorough and answered all my questions. There was no pressure to purchase frames or lenses. Would highly recommend!
We got our exams here and we also asked to make the lenses for our current frame. So we went in and gave them the frames. The result was the lenses they made were too big to fit our frame so they had to force tighten the rims to keep the lenses from falling off. They also lost the screws and replaced with longer screws that would scratch my hands easily. They offered 50% off for the lenses, and I did not even bother to fight it because I'll just let me credit card company does the job for me. Why would I want lenses which does not fit in the frame? They kept falling off from the frame and I could not even fit them into another pair of frame.
I visited this location on 12/11 at approximately 11:50 a.m. to purchase an additional pair of glasses using my existing prescription and insurance. I specifically stated that I did not need any premium or expensive options, as I rarely use these glasses except for driving in bad weather.
I asked Cyndia, who appeared to be the manager on duty, to show me the section of frames under $175. She directed me to a section, and I chose a pair accordingly. When I returned to her for measurements and payment, the total unexpectedly came out to $86 out-of-pocket because the frames were actually over $200 and she had added a coating without my consent. Her demeanor from the beginning was unnecessarily harsh, but I proceeded because the other associate was busy.
She then tried to upsell me a promotion, suggesting that if I did not use my insurance, I could get a "better" pair of glasses with all the add-ons for $175. I explained clearly that I did not want any extras and that I would select a cheaper pair, as I had already purchased a more expensive pair from this location last year.
At that point, she abruptly closed my file and took another customer, effectively forcing me to wait another twenty minutes for the same service. I pay my insurance premiums to be able to use my benefits--not to be pressured into unnecessary purchases or ignored mid-transaction. When I asked for a manager, no one responded, because the actual manager pretended not to be the manager. This is completely unacceptable.
Another employee attempted to assist me, but by that point the experience was so unprofessional and disrespectful that I no longer wished to give this store my business.
This location has now lost not only my business, but also that of my immediate and extended family, all of whom I had previously brought here as customers. As an insurance agency manager, I will also no longer refer clients to your store or your brand.
Based on your repeated negative reviews mentioning similar issues with staff behavior--especially management--it is clear that the store owner needs to take immediate corrective action.
I came in needing a new pair of glasses and was immediately greeted upon entry to a very wholesome and friendly staff! I think her name was Tori? One of the managers, she directed me over to one of the staff and they were able to help me with what I was looking for. Thank you to those that helped me! I will definitely be back!!! 5/5
As usual, everyone at this location is always super helpful! Diana helped me with my meta frames getting them sent off for lenses. Clearly explaining and answering all my questions. Thank you MyEye!
I am writing this review to bring serious attention to the completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior of the supervisor, Ms. Tina, at this MyEyeDr location in Columbia, MD. What happened to me on December 1st at 1:31 pm was not just poor customer service -- it was disrespectful, humiliating, and far below the standards of any business that claims to care about patients.
I came in simply to pick up my glasses and check the status of my son's glasses. Instead of being helped, I was met with hostility from the very person who is supposed to set an example: the supervisor. From the moment I spoke, she interrupted me, talked down to me, and acted as if I had no right to ask questions about my own order.
Even though I was calm, polite, and not raising my voice, she told me I "needed to talk to her a certain way." English is my second language and I naturally speak with a clear, loud tone -- but instead of showing understanding or patience, she treated me as if I was beneath her. The way she spoke to me was condescending, rude, and completely inappropriate.
When I couldn't remember the name of the person who helped us last time, she rolled her eyes, gave me attitude, and made me feel like I was being judged or interrogated. She then crossed the line by calling me ignorant -- in front of my 15-year-old son. No employee, especially a supervisor, should ever insult a customer.
It got worse. She refused to help us, refused to answer basic questions, refused to assist my son with frames, refused to give her full name, and even threatened to return my son's glasses and deny service simply because she didn't like that I expressed how disrespectful her behavior was. She claimed she had the "right to kick me out" just for standing up for myself.
I am a 35-year-old Asian pregnant woman who walked in peacefully to handle a simple glasses pickup. Instead, I was talked down to, cut off repeatedly, disrespected, and humiliated in front of my child. My family has spent significant money here -- $700-$800 for my son's glasses alone, plus multiple visits for our entire household -- yet I was treated as if my business didn't matter. It even felt as if she assumed we were "less" because we have Medicaid, which is unacceptable and discriminatory.
This experience was shocking, uncalled for, and extremely unprofessional. Supervisors represent the company, and the behavior I experienced was the opposite of leadership. This store urgently needs corporate review, retraining, and accountability for how customers -- especially families who trust this location -- are treated.
I strongly urge MyEyeDr's upper management to investigate this matter immediately. No customer should ever be spoken to, threatened, or disrespected the way I was.
Everyone is very professional and good patient care services are amazing. I always enjoy meeting with my eye care physician here and I love how close it is to my home. My only issue is the cost for glasses and contacts. I always feel like I have to pay a car note or mortgage payment to get corrective lenses or contacts that I need. I get that may not be the fault of the company and medical insurance doesn't always cover a lot but whew! Other than that I also truly appreciate that this branch of My Eye Doctor also taught me how to use contacts and it truly changed my perspective and perception of being able to see clearly. Thank you!
