The Retina Group of Washington (Columbia) did a fantastic job from the initial scheduling phone call to the care/treatment I received from the staff. I called on a Friday afternoon and they scheduled me for Monday. Every staff member from the receptionist, to the doctor (Dr. Reid) were friendly and carried themselves with great professionalism.
The wait for my initial eye exam took ~45 minutes, but from there, the rest of the appointment was fast and flowed quickly with no extra waiting around. Dr. Reid explains things well and takes time to listen to any questions or concerns.

I went to a doctor in their Columbia office and was told I had the start of macular degeneration. I then went to a different ophthalmologist in Baltimore who did far more tests and was told there were no signs of macular degeneration. As such, I do wonder about the competency of the doctor I saw here. The doctor in Baltimore was older and much more experienced and did far more tests.

Unless you want to waste hours of your time waiting, do not go here. I have walked out of my appointment time twice as a patient here for the colossally long wait when I had a 7:45am appointment. It's absolutely ridiculous the disregard they have for waiting rooms full of patients who got up early to be on time for appointments. I cannot recommend this practice.

The corporation of Retina Group of Washington is horrible for customer - patient service. It is impossible to contact a real person. They move appointments without contacting patient. Their automated email notifications do NOT include a reply email NOR a phone number on automated emails, for changes or even for their own 'please confirm' notices. Truly, how hard would it be to at least have an email reply option for a (probably delayed) call back request? Its a shame because Dr. Reid in Columbia is lovely even with reduced local hours. But if cannot reach the offices staff, what good is it to have great doctors?

When a person gets older, as in from age 70 to age 80, eye health and vision start to become an issue. I have been seeing Dr. Reid annually for checkups and review of existing conditions. She said if there were ever changes in my eyes, to come in. I did experience some symptoms that worried me. When I called the appointment line, they were able to schedule me for the same day. Everything about the visit was positive. When you walk into the office, the young woman at the front desk greets you with a huge smile. For me, coming in because of worry and concern, that pleasant greeting went a long way. Two techs prepped me for the doctor. Both were careful and informative. Then I had the medical exam. I trust Dr. Reid. She said yes, I should have come in for the symptoms I was experiencing. No further action needed at this time, but I was asked to return in 6 weeks. I feel like I am not alone in this aging process, that I have access to 1st world medical care for my eyes.
