Tong Patrick MD

Wonderful ophthalmologist who is great with kids. Our toddler got poked in the eye and they worked us in on the same day. Dr. Tong was fantastic with him and has great bedside manner. Not the circumstances we wanted to find an eye doctor but glad we did as we'll definitely be going back!

Dr Tong was one of the Ophthalmologists referred to us by my sons pediatrician. Scheduling was easy. He is friendly and has a great bedside manner. Dr. Tong was able to recognize behaviors my son acquired to compensate for his poor vision of which we weren't aware. My son never complained about being able to see but it was clear after sitting through the examination that he had a real problem. Dr. Tong provided thorough explanation of his diagnosis, treatment options and even provided detail regarding the choice of eyeglasses providers. The downside... 1) the office is sterile and uninviting but we rarely spend a lot of time there. We've never waited long so I tend to overlook it. 2) They only accept cash and check for deductible/copayment of which I rarely carry.

Dr Tong recognized my daughter's problem even has we walked in at age 12. While it required many visits, as his prescriptions took form, her grades only went up. Fast forward ten years later and now more than a year post surgery, she is no longer wearing glasses is doing great. Thank you Dr Tong!

Misdiagnosed my daughter with a weak eye. Made her wear prisim lenses for months (which he provided and charged us directly for). When I got the feeling I needed a second opinion, I was told there was nothing wrong with my daughter and they had never recommended prisim glasses for children. All 6 doctors in the practice also rolled their eyes when they saw the prisim glasses and said, oh, Dr. Tong? I've also recently met a mom at my daughters karate class who said he did the same exact thing to her son. Would not recommend.

I'm shocked and disappointed to read the reviews of Dr. Tong. We in Howard County are fortunate and blessed to have this dedicated and accomplished physician in our community. His knowledge and skill is unsurpassed, and he has a wonderful way with patients. This is a man of integrity who in no way would mislead for profit. I trust him and his expert advice implicitly.

Dr tong was the only one to find my browns syndrome. I had a permanent head tilt until he found the right prescription of prisms. He also told me where to get them the cheapest! Forever grateful!

Walked into an office that looked like they just moved in. Piles of paperwork and files stacked in the doctors office, in the patient room the trash was overflowing with piles of paperwork everywhere. I asked if they just moved in; responded that they've been there for years. It was not kid friendly at all. 3 torn missing pages books and zero toys. The exam was interesting since my child was distracted by the mess. Turns out after going to another eye doctor my 4 year old daughter was misdiagnosed for a lazy right eye. It is her left eye thats worse but doesn't need glasses anytime soon and no lazy eye. Dr. Tong was professional and kind however his office setting and exam was very disappointing.

I've personally been visiting him since pre-school (now in college) and he is phenomenal. Dr. Tong is very good with kids and continues to go above and beyond for his patients. I would highly recommend.
