Visionary Eye Doctors: Damascus, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Kaufman's for many years, and trust him completely with my eye care. I've had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Luna, the optometrist, a couple of times recently, and she is so kind, friendly, and helpful. Other staff members who I've interacted with are also kind and helpful. I recommend this practice highly.

I met Dr. Luna at this visit and really liked her. I'm feeling much better. Anthony was great and the woman in reception is always very professional and helpful.

Checkin was quick. I was seen on-time. The staff was friendly and professional. I highly recommend this office.

Another doctor's office that has no respect for their patients time. However, the staff and doctors are professional and provide excellent care. I will continue to use this practice but take the day off of work instead of a couple of hours.

Avoid, avoid, avoid! We had so many bad experiences here with the staff and their inability to receive referrals. Today, I came in with my 5-year old, referral in hand that we picked up from our pediatrician. They did not tell us anything about what needs to be on the referral, but told us when we got there that it was incorrect because it didn't have their name. So I called the pediatrician and they faxed over an updated referral. However, the staff would not accept that one either because it didn't have the correct doctor listed whom my son was seeing today (even though the staff did not tell me which doctor he was seeing so I did not know). The next referral that was faxed over was rejected because the address was wrong. After the third referral was faxed over, they then told me that he had to wait 2-3 hours before he would get to see a doctor. That was the last straw. I had my own issues with this place as well. I had a major eye injury and went to their Rockville office which was the only one I could get an appointment at. They would not take me without a referral (they did not tell me ahead of time that I needed one - I told them this was an emergency visit). After trying to reach my doctor for 40 minutes, I left. The next time, I went to their Rockville office, with a referral that my doctor told me was faxed over the day before. The staff said they did not get it. I showed it to them through my patient portal, but they said they could not accept that. After trying to reach my doctor and not being able to, 30 minutes later, I left, only to find out that they had sent the referral to the OTHER Rockville office. But the staff had not told me this and I had no idea until I spent an hour on the phone trying to figure out what happened. My husband had numerous issues with them as well, such as them canceling one of my child's appointments because a doctor no longer worked there, but not telling us. I had also made an appointment for my daughter once only for them to later tell me that she's not old enough to be seen by them. In summary, these are not one-time incidents. These are recurring issues, and they are the result of their staff not being competent. Although my family has wasted hours and hours because of the issues with this place, I hope that with this review, others do not waste their own hours as well.

Friendly staff and helpful informative doctors!

The Damascus office is incompetent. I had to have my pediatrician send three different referrals because the staff didn't give me all of the information they needed and then they said they wouldn't be able to see my kid for 2-3 hours. This is the third time this office has been a problem for my family. The time before this they cancelled an appointment because a doctor left the practice then never called me back after I left messages to reschedule. The time before that they gave me the fax number for the Rockville location and we had to cancel the appointment because of that. We're going to find a different eye doctor.

Fantastic office. Both the staff and doctor were welcoming and knowledgeable. I saw Dr. Luna and can't say enough good things about her. She was patient, thorough, caring and extremely knowledgeable. Everything you want in a doctor! I will continue seeing this practice for both myself and my families eye care needs.
