Wheaton Eyecare

We scheduled an eye exam thinking that the previous prescription expired. It was not, but they still took us and we wasted a few months from the previous prescription. Another family member went for discomfort in the eye - was told that he had potential serious infection, prescribed an eye drop and got charged again in the follow-up visit 2 days later. Got referred to another eye doctor, turned out it was a tiny broken contact lense attached.

I've been seeing Dr. Zhang for almost a decade now. She's kind, skilled and patient. The physical office is clean and well-organized. The staff is adequate, though some don't seem that confident and will consult with the doctor on certain things. Better to ask if you don't know, in my book. My only complaint is that the glasses in store are rather pricey, but the doctor provided a copy of my prescription to purchase them elsewhere with no questions/pressure.

Dr. Zhang is wonderful! She was SO patient and took so much time working out a rather complicated contact lens prescription for me that allowed my middle aged (and very nearsighted) eyes to see both at a distance AND up close. I threw my reading glasses away! She also did a very thorough and thoughtful examination of my young daughter's eyes when she was having trouble focusing. An excellent doctor, obviously committed to her work.

Extremely competent, kind and polite. Got a same day appointment and Dr. Zhang was helpful enough to squeeze in my request for a more comprehensive eye exam when I reached her place. Answered all my questions patiently. Highly recommended!

Awful! The staff is not polite or patient. They tried to measure my daughter's eyes three times. The first time the machine cut off. The second time the technician gave up and went to get the doctor. The third time the doctor spent 30 seconds trying to measure her eyes before she stopped. She barely spent any time with her. She did my exam and prescribed glasses. I asked the technician if there was anything in the price range that my insurance allowed. She stated that there wasn't. The doctor informed me that there was a cabinet full of frames in my price range. When I went to pick them up today I told the technician, who was busy eating at the front desk, that the frames didn't fit. She adjusted them I stated again that they didn't fit. She told me they were fine and I could come back later if they really needed to be adjusted. I will never be going back to this office!

This is a review for Dr. Timothy J. Kietzman. I woke up very early this morning with a frightening eye issue, which turned out to be a subconjunctival hemorrhage (looks like blood pooling in the whites of the eye). Since it was 5:30am, no eye doctors were open yet and the emergency rooms I called didn't have opthamologists there. So I called the Wheaton Eyecare Clinic's emergency line, left a message, and shortly afterward Dr. Kietzman called me back. He took a lot of time asking questions, talking me through it, and let my husband send him text images of my eye -- he was able to identify the issue quickly and was very reassuring that this was common and not an emergency (which it wasn't). It was a huge relief that it could wait until I could get an available appointment just to check that I didn't have debris or anything in there (for peace of mind). I highly recommend him. Thank you, Dr. Kietzman!

Came for an annual eye exam, Dr. Zhang and the reception are very nice and helpful! I'll definitely be coming back in the future.
