I've been seeing Dr. Chang for almost two years, and she has performed two very successful eye surgeries for me. She is professional, kind, caring, and truly pleasant to work with.
I completely trust her -- she listens carefully and always does her best to help. She is also very cooperative in providing medical notes and coordinating with my primary doctor and other required parties. I'm very grateful for her excellent care and highly recommend her.
The practice was terrific from start to finish.
Making an appointment on line was a breeze.
They were great answering insurance related questions by calling me back as well as texting me. Could get an appointment for the same day!
In the office, wait time was minimal.
Front office , the tech who did my initial exams and Dr Chu were all very nice and attentive and knowledgeable in their respective areas.
It was a great experience as a new patient.
I will continue my care there and will recommend them to others.
The front staff and Dr. Mekhail were great and I was excited to move forward with the cross linking procedure for keratoconus earlier this year. Unfortunately, the surgical coordinators dropped the ball and then lost it completely. The first surgical coordinator was new and messed up my first surgery date, cancelling at the last minute. She no longer works there. Then things started to get worse with the person who took over. My second surgery date was cancelled by me at the last minute because no one had updated me on my insurance coverage situation (but they were happy to let me go through with it anyway it seems).
Over the next six months, it was a game of me calling the surgical coordinator numerous times to inquire about what was going on, and only being answered twice (with no solution), never with a call back. She finally returned my calls a few weeks ago, literally 2 seasons later, after I called multiple times in a day and spoke with multiple other people (even the billing dept). She told me to call my insurance myself, which I did and they had no clue why I was calling or how to help me. As of right now, she has yet to follow up with me.
So if you decide to go through with this procedure here, be prepared to heavily advocate for yourself and do most of your own coordinating, possibly with nothing to show for it. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I tried multiple times over multiple months to figure this out, with nothing in the end except for another year of lost vision I could have had preserved. I understand these things take time, but the poor communication and lack of basic care is inexcusable.
I has choosen this clinic under other positive reviews. Really woderful practice. My doctor is Joseph Mekhail. Awesome doctor. I refer my mom and father to him and folliw up me too))
I was impressed with how staff in the office were nice and professional. Above all Dr. Summerfiled was really very nice and he promptly explained everything I need to know about cataract surgery. But one thing I am not please is that I haven't been able to make a surgery appointment for tree days. Staff at front desk gave me Surgical Coordinator's phone number and extension. I have been calling and I left few messages, she hasn't call me back yet to schedule apt or at least let me know what's the holdup? It's really annoying.
Dr. Mekhail was awesome! My blood pressure always rises for any medical appt., so you can imagine how I felt since it involved my eyes. He examined them and automatically told me there was no cause for serious concern. He explained the situation. He told me what the causes usually were, since there had been no changes to my lifestyle or start of any meds. He said he would start treatment that day and gave VERY specific instructions on what I was to do. Of course he also provided written materials. The assistant who did the pre-screen was also great as she relaxed me by making me laugh.
I had the cataract procedure procedure done here. The first eye was done with only local anesthesia, as a result, I was able to hear the conversations.
To my surprise, doctors and the assistants were talking about sailing and Gus boat while working in the procedure.
The follow up after the procedure, the technician took the reading off the equipment, pretending he is a medical doctor, when I asking questions, he was just couldn't give any answer.
I later on want to retrieve the payment record for other insurance claim, the calls to the billing department was never able to complete. I could only leave the message which I was never received response.
In my opinion, this institute I is focusing on generating profits and that is their highest priority.
The doctor was fine, but his staff don't do their jobs! After the doctor ordered a prescription for medication, 2 weeks passed with no authorization from his office staff, preventing me from obtaining the medication. When I called, they assured me that the authorization would be done that day but it has now been 3 more weeks with no medication. Blink RX says that the doctor's office has not responded to their requests for authorization yet. So much for assurances. I now have a painful eye condition without treatment because of their incompetence.
