Dr Gupta performed cateract surgery on my 95 year old father with an extreme case of very thick lenses. He was amazing! Not only is his bedside manner extraordinary, his medical expertise is outstanding. We had to go through a second surgery on one eye, and Dr Gupta coordinated up front and throughout the entire procedure. Amazing service and care. Highly recommend.

The actual surgery was extremely well organized and everyone was professional, helpful & friendly. If you are thinking about the LAL option, it is a pretty big time commitment and $$$$ although I am happy with the results. I had one eye done and it required 5 office visits: 1 post-op, 1 adjustment, 2 visits to lock-in the final focus and a last visit to get a final eyeglass prescription. Also, the procedure for adjusting the lens and locking it in is a little disturbing and I did it 3 times. They put a lens with gel on it directly on your eyeball, strap your head so you can't move and flash an extremely bright light in your eyeball for 2 minutes. It's definitely freaky and I'm pretty chill about medical procedures. As I said, I am happy with the results but it did take 9 weeks from start to finish to get new glasses. Also, you need to wear the UV glasses all the time, so the LAL is a commitment.

Happy New year (Jan 2026), I am extremely happy to write this honest review, my thoughts & personal experience. First I am thankful to Dr. Ankur Gupta for his talented, sharp & knowledge as an eye surgeon at Maryland Eye surgery and consultants. I was very much impressed by the way he follows patients' concerns, care & follow-up phone calls and asking questions and responding with very sharp answers. Second, I have personally observed & impressed all staff the way they handle every type of patient's services with excellent customer service. In 2011, I had triplets and my life has changed since then. No proper sleep, food, running & driving to attend to their needs & priorities. During this time many factors affected my personal life leading to diagnosis of Diabetes in 2024. Diagnosis was delayed for not doing every year my Hb-A1c and later right treatment plan was also delayed and finally ended up with affecting my both eye crystalline lenses and underwent cataract surgery. I am extremely happy to report today that I have 20/20 (left eye) and 20/25 (right eye) vision so that I can take care of my children. I am also happy to report my Glucose levels are around 100 with a normal 6 Hb-A1c and monitoring daily basis with CGM. As a medical research biochemist my eyes are powerful windows and they were saved with a new life today, so I sincerely and strongly recommend Dr. Gupta & Eye center for the highest quality eye services and any of your eye care needs. I recently had LAL cataract surgery with Dr. Ladas, and I'm thrilled with the outcome--my vision, especially up close, is incredible, and I no longer need contacts or glasses. The entire team was professional and knowledgeable, making the process smooth from start to finish. A small suggestion: consider adding optional email updates, app-based updates, or a patient portal for results and next steps -- this would complement the excellent care and accommodate different communication preferences. Dr. Ankur Gupta of Maryland Eye Consultants and Surgeons did my wife's cataract surgery, and we were very pleased with the doctor and his staff, as well as the outcome of the surgery.. Dr. Gupta is clearly knowledgeable and experienced. He took the time to explain the procedure, including the laser option, and what was happening at each step. He answered all our questions, and we never felt rushed. The staff of this practice was excellent as well. They worked with us through scheduling and billing questions, and communicated clearly about the pre-op prep. My wife has felt a special benefit of the cataract surgery, as she is an artist. She can now see colors more clearly, and has been doing much more painting and drawing since the surgery. She has now returned to exhibiting her art work at area shows. We highly recommend Dr. Gupta and this practice.

My experience with Dr. Gupta, and continues to be, positive. Ihad cataract surgery with him. He is patient, spends the time necessary to make sure you understand the procedure abs implications, and is genuinely a very nice person. Highly recommend him!
