Dr. Katira is so kind and always has a smile on her face. She examines each patient and gives them a thorough eye examination before performing the procedure. It's really convenient. The eye that received the procedure can see better and I'm so grateful that she solved the problem.

I basically went in for a second opinion. I was told I'd need to have a quick outpatient procedure to close holes in my retina. The whole thing took under 15 minutes and it was completely painless! The entirety of my appointment took under an hour and a half and I'm now safe for years to come from a retinal tear that could've lead to blindness if they hadn't caught it in time. I'm very appreciative and highly recommend Dr. Mathai.

I needed a follow-up appointment with a retina specialist following my semi-annual optometrist visit--not urge but timely--and they suggested Retina Group of Washington. I live less than a mile from their Silver Spring location and got an appointment for several days following my initial phone call.
My experience was quite satisfactory. The office staff was quite pleasant, the appointment ran on time, and Dr. Mathai was cordial, thorough, and spent time explaining that my minor, possible issue was largely benign and due to aging. As expected I'll probably need cataract surgery in 2 or 3 years, but the visit re-affirmed what I figured that I would hear.
In sum, it was an excellent referral from my optometrist and if my experience is typical, then this group is doing things right!

The office is wonderful! The nurses and receptionist are so kind and great with my daughter. The Dr. was also wonderful, very thorough and he did a great job answering my daughters tough questions. My only complaint is that, after testing, we were in our room waiting for the doctor for almost 30 min. No one came in and checked in and let us know how much longer... We just kept waiting and waiting.
Follow up: 1/27/2022. I had to take some stars off from my last review. Again, the staff is amazing! The nurses where brilliant with my daughter and the Dr. was excellent. But the appointment took 2 and half HOURS. There were so many people there. As much as I love this office, we will have to find another Dr. It just takes too long and that seems to be the norm there and they really don't seem too worried about how long it takes. It's not Ok.

Very disorganized office - filled out the same forms multiple times, both online in advance of the appointment and then again on paper in the office. I then had an incredibly long wait even though I was the only patient waiting. I also experienced what other reviews have mentioned - loud conversations about my personal patient information among staff in the waiting area. It is really unfortunate.

Office was very professional. Doctor was fantastic. Only drawbacks is timeliness and parking. Had to feed the meter twice while waiting. Unless you have change or a particular app. you will end up parking in the street where there is 1 hour parking.
