Mass. Eye and Ear, Foxborough

I went to Mass Eye and Ear because if it's excellent reputation. I waited seven months for the appointment. Dr. Meeker was anything but helpful. They have you on an assembly line type treatment. I never knew if I was being treated by an assistant, nurse or the doctor. They dilated my eyes and I have been in pain ever since. No one explained why this was done? They offered up a diagnosis but said not to worry about it. I read about it and there is quite a lot to be worried about. And there are treatments to slow down progression that were never offered. Now my eyes hurt and itch daily. All this for a diagnosis I was told "not to worry about it" why have the exam if there is no treatment?

Please read the entire review so you will understand what you're getting yourself into.....For a regular eye exam to get new glasses once a year, I am sure they are fine. If you have progressive vision problems (example macular degeneration, Retinitis pigmentosa, ) this is NOT the place for you. I have had major changes in my vision and they are unable to provide a timely appointment. Even with the major sudden changes, the best they can do for an appointment is months out. Mass Eye and Ear will cancel your appointment the day before and set a new appointment again months out. If you ask to speak with a supervisor, there isn't one available but they will take your number for a call back. The call back never happens. Whenever you are seen, they appear well put together. If you need to be seen by a specialist, You will need to take care of any and all communication between Specialists, your Primary Care Physician (PCP), Your Doctor at Mass Eye and Ear, and your health insurance company. Your Optometrist at Mass Eye & Ear may want the specialist but all requests and referrals must go through your PCP. Your Optometrist is not able to make any type of referral. It must go through your PCP. Your Optometrist from Mass Eye & Ear and the Specialists from Mass Eye & Ear do not communicate. You need to contact any and all Specialists to clarify in writing if a referral from your PCP is required. (It is every time). Everything must go through your PCP. Dr Meeker and staff do not communicate with your PCP or with you. You must to be able to explain to your PCP what specialist you need, why you need that specialist, what that specialist will be looking for, and the medical necessity for that type of exam, so your PCP can give you the referral. If you don't do this properly, the insurance company will not cover the costs of the specialist. If you get confused or frustrated with this process, there is no-one to help guide you. You're on your own.

Excellent staff inside and out. Friendly people pleasure going here would recommend to anyone of my family or friends
