I had my first appointment with Dr Elgas today and I was extremely impressed. Not only were the staff wonderful but I spent a large amount of time with the doctor which is never occurred to me in any of my eye exam appointments. In fact most recently I went to another clinic and I was there for an hour but only spent 3 to 4 minutes with the doctor. Here, the doctor answered my questions, shared and discussed my scans with me and then did sit me down with their optometrist to possibly purchase lenses. I was very honest that I was only going to think about the cost for a little bit but could I have a copy of my prescription. He immediately printed it out with no hesitation. So I don't understand other people saying that they were made to be uncomfortable when they didn't want to buy the glasses there. In fact I discussed with him putting the new lenses into my existing frames and he was all for it. He was actually suggesting that I save money. The entire office is just a pleasure including their occasional mascot Hark

I'm confused by any review that's other than 5 stars! Going to the eye doctor is one of those appointments that I used to dread but I actually look forward to it now ever since I became a patient at Comprehensive Eye Care. The staff is so attentive and friendly. Dr. Elgas is so thorough and knowledgeable and I'm so glad I found this gem! If you're looking for an eye doctor in this area, definitely book an appointment here

I have been a patient for of Dr. Laurie Elgas of comprehensive eye care of New England for over 10 years. Dr. Elgas took me on as a new patient when I had serious problems with my eyes. I was referred to Dr. Elgas because she's the only one that the doctor I was seeing could Fit me to lenses. my doctor referred me to dr. Elgas. . Dr. Elgas was able to fit me to contact lenses for my serious eye disease. I've been coming her to her for many years and never saw anybody's spoken to or Have I seen any rudeness or unethical treatment to Her patients,. she is very helpful and works with her patients to find solutions For their Eyecare needs. lol The best thing that ever happened to me was I was referred to Dr. Elgas and as I said earlier, I've been with her for over 10 years. If you need good eye care or if you have some form of eye disease, Dr. Elgas is the one you want to see. I look forward to my visits with Dr. Elgas because when I enter the office, I am greeted With such a happy environment. The office staff are so pleasant to all patients as they Wait to see the doctor.

I actually love coming to my annual eye appt, as everyone working here is fantastic and friendly. I have seen Dr. Elgas for close to 25 years, and LOVE her. She is smart, knowledgeable, personable, and compassionate. She is a great dr but also, a great person. And multi-talented. Did you know about her musical ability? The woman can do it all. Love catching up with Mimi at the front desk (and Kathy before her.) She always has a smile waiting for patients as they enter the door and a friendly goodbye when you leave. Having the optics shop on site is added convenience, and there is always someone available to help with glasses. I have not only vision issues, but eye health ones as well, and Dr. Elgas treats it all and refers me out if needed. I would recommend this practice to anyone needing not just an optometrist, but wanting a GREAT one.

I was shocked and appalled to read the previous reviewers score. Mimi is the most accommodating front desk person I have ever dealt with. She bends over backwards to accommodate schedules and make appointments easy. Dr. Elgas is incredible. She is thorough and kind and has helped every member of my family with glasses and contacts. Please don't listen to these negative reviews, you will be SO happy to have Dr. Elgas and her team of professionals help you with your eye care needs!!!

You will not find a more friendly, accommodating and professional eye care office than at Comprehensive Eye. Dr Elgas is thorough and excellent at what she does. The entire office team is friendly and only want what's best for their patients. I'm very surprised about the bad review re: "Mimi at the front desk". I've had nothing but a professional experience. They do book out months at a time because that's how good they are and honestly, a pretty common timeframe for most dr appointments. Highly recommend this practice.

I became a patient last year and underwent an eye exam. During the exam, the doctor strongly recommended that I meet with the staff optometrist and purchase a "high quality" pair of sunglasses. I did as the doctor suggested and selected a pair of Maui Jim frames and accompanying lenses. Within a year, the lenses were so cloudy that I could not adequately see. I never used these "high quality" glasses for any activity other than driving and consistently stored them in the case provided. I visited the office today and explained the situation to the optometrist. She inspected the lenses and pronounced, "I can send them out for a lens replacement, but you'll have to pay for it." I explained that I was not in any way responsible for the damage and asked why I would be responsible for the cost of the lens replacement. She replied, "well, you must have left them in a hot car." A hot car? Proceed with caution here, particularly if you're pitched to buy their sunglasses.

I have been a patient of Dr. Elgas for over 20 years. She is patient, professional and thorough and takes the time to answer and resolve any issues. Her staff and assistants at the practice are also warm, professional, accomplished and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend Dr. Elgas and her practice.
