There wouldn't be enough words to express just how life-changing this therapy has been for our family. For many years, I struggled to find the right support--let alone a team that truly understood the challenges my family was facing and the help we desperately needed. Dr. Kelly and her team have completely changed our lives. After a thorough evaluation and a year of eye therapy, both of my daughters are now living happier, more confident lives. Double vision, being cross-eyed, and depth perception issues are no longer daily struggles. Their behavior has improved, their ability to focus and perform has reached its best, and we are truly thriving. They can now play sports, follow routines, and enjoy everyday activities that once felt overwhelming. Something that seems so simple--yet is so complex--has made an incredible difference in our lives. I cannot thank or recommend Dr. Kelly and her team enough.

My 4-year-old son recently "graduated" from his vision therapy program, and the experience was truly life-changing for our family. About 16 months ago, when he began experiencing double vision, I felt so lost and worried. Our pediatrician directed us to an ophthalmologist who suggested he might grow out of it; in fact, she explicitly told us that vision therapy is not going to work. However, despite her doubts, she did mention the vision therapy world as a potential path. I am so grateful we followed our intuition, as it led us to exactly what he needed. Finding the right environment for a child as young as four is so important. We initially visited a different clinic, but it felt cold and rushed--more like a "factory" than a place of healing. Even though that practice was less than 5 minutes from our home, I knew my son needed a doctor who truly understood the vision therapy world from a child's perspective. That is exactly what we found with Dr. Kelly. Even though her practice was 30 minutes away, the drive was worth every mile. From our very first visit, Dr. Kelly and her wonderful team treated us with such genuine kindness and empathy. They were incredibly responsive and made the logistics of scheduling so easy, which is a huge relief for any busy parent. What impressed me most was how they handled the exercises; while the vision therapy world can sometimes feel clinical or tedious for a little boy, they went above and beyond to keep him engaged and smiling. The results felt like a miracle--we saw significant improvements within just the first few months. Those sessions truly felt like magic to us. Dr. Kelly even took the time to nurture my own curiosity by lending me a book on the subject, helping me better understand the vision therapy world and making me feel like a true partner in my son's recovery. I truly believe my son's success was rooted in the deep bond he formed with Dr. Kelly and her amazing team of vision therapists. At four years old, a child's progress depends so much on feeling safe and cared for. While this is a significant out-of-pocket investment, I would choose this practice again in a heartbeat. When you are dealing with your child's well-being, having a provider who is as compassionate as they are brilliant makes all the difference. They helped us turn a scary situation into a beautiful success story. This is a great practice, and we are so thankful!

Dr. Kelly is by far the most comprehensive and caring developmental optometrist I have ever seen. I've been to numerous eye doctors and had glasses from many different optometrists; however, I could never function comfortably in them--whether walking or driving. One of my eye doctors initially suspected an eye teaming problem, and Dr. Kelly later confirmed that diagnosis. Dr. Kelly spent over two hours with me, thoroughly testing my eye teaming and focusing. She discovered that I have eye teaming issues and recommended vision therapy. I completed an active year-long vision therapy program, and it has made a tremendous difference. I am confident that the combination of vision therapy and my new glasses has made a huge improvement in how I see and function, and I feel so much better now. The glasses she prescribed are by far the best pair I have ever had in my life. My previous optometrists always gave me prescriptions that made my vision clear, but I constantly felt off balance and sick when wearing them, whether walking or driving. I only wore those glasses for short driving distances so I could read street signs. My new prescription from Dr. Kelly feels amazing. My functional vision has improved significantly, and thanks to vision therapy, I am now comfortable wearing both contact lenses and glasses. My eyes feel balanced, and I can walk, drive, and function comfortably in my daily life. I could not be happier. Thank you so much, Dr. Kelly!

I've had such wonderful experiences here. My vision was compromised by a bad car accident and I've never had vision problems before so it was a lot to take on. But, from the start, everyone here was truly wonderful. From Theresa at the front desk always being lovely and helpful, to Dr. Kelly's warmth, expertise, and patience, to my amazing therapist Trevor - I've had so much support being evaluated, getting accommodated for my needs, and being assured of my progress through their constant help. Trevor is so patient, kind, knowledgeable, creative, and I have to say, really fun to work with. I never thought I'd enjoy therapy, but at Sunshine Vision, you can't help it. I'm so grateful. I've seen great progress and have so much more understanding about my vision.

Vision therapy at Sunshine Vision Therapy has truly changed my life and my children's lives. I was originally referred by my eye doctor after I mentioned something that always felt strange but I could never explain. When I was learning to play tennis, I felt like the balls were flying at me and I had no sense of where they actually were. At work, my emails were often full of typos, even after multiple rounds of proofreading. After meeting with Dr. Kelly, it became clear that I had likely been living with double vision for years due to convergence insufficiency. Going through vision therapy was eye opening in every sense of the word. Not only did it help me function better day to day, it helped me recognize similar struggles in my children. I pushed for their school to test them because they were having difficulty with reading comprehension, copying from the board to paper, and reading books without a guide to keep from skipping lines. Both of my children were diagnosed with convergence insufficiency as well. After vision therapy, the changes have been incredible. My son is thriving academically, in sports, and physically. You can literally see the difference in how well his eyes work together. My daughter, who used to struggle with coordination and would often fall or crash into things, now shows dramatically improved eye hand coordination. She can do things she simply could not do before. One of the most powerful moments is sitting in on the initial testing. Dr. Kelly does an amazing job explaining what is happening and you can actually see when one eye is not working in sync with the other. In that moment, it becomes very real very quickly. Vision therapy is an investment, but if you are able to do it, it is worth every penny for the lifelong impact it can have. Dr. Kelly and her team are compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly life changing for families like ours. I am incredibly grateful we found them.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with my teenage son's experience at Sunshine Vision Development Center. For years he has struggled with reading comprehension, motion sickness, and sensory overwhelm in fast-paced environments. His neurodiversity can make it challenging for him to receive coaching and feedback. But from early on, he felt supported and safe working with Dr. Kelly and Trevor. Dr. Kelly has built a team-oriented, highly skilled staff. She uses state of the art technology and also has a deep understanding of developmental neurology. Trevor is a talented vision therapist as well as an extremely perceptive and sensitive person. He took the time required to build relationship with my son and support his specific needs and preferences. He always listened to our input and tailored therapy to address both my and my son's concerns. After a year of therapy, my son chose and read a book for pleasure, a first!! His motion sickness is fully resolved. He is learning to drive, something I wasn't sure his sensory processing would support. I feel this has been a missing piece of crucial development for my son and I am so grateful to the team at Sunshine Vision for their expertise. Sunshine vision did an amazing job! Trevor spent time getting to know my child before he started working, and was incredibly patient, creative and supportive throughout the work. Dr. Kelly has been unfailingly available, positive, and communicative. The team really cares about all they do and did a fabulous job. The difference from when we started until now is phenomenal. Our son has been doing vision therapy with Trevor and Dr. Kelly for the past year and a half. He wasn't able to sustain any reading stamina when he started, easily became motion sick in the car and was very sensitive to light. But now, all of those symptoms have resolved and he can and loves to read! We couldn't be more pleased with the impact vision therapy has made in his life. He enjoyed his time with Trevor and never complained about going to his weekly sessions.
